Subject: The Destroying Ray and the Death Ray in Universe...


This first ray proved to be certain death for Dr. Zarkov and the intervening Flash in Ming's torture chamber. Roka was the one who saved both of them and all three made their escape from the palace. The Death Ray was only seen in the final chapter of the 1940 serial. It guarded the space court from intruders. Professor Drulk turned it off so Flash could get the Solarite ship. In one scene, this ray delivers its effect with a combination of disintegration and spontaneous combustion of two guards who walk right into it without warning!

In addition to these infernal rays, we must not forget the Melting Rays used by King Vultan. The Resisto Force that surrounded my space ship on its way to Vultan's palace protected Flash and our party for quite some time.

Doctor Zarkov's discovery of a device for a new ray to replace the ray that supported Vultan's Sky city was another important development in rayology. Doctor Zarkov hopes to soon develop a portable version of this device to support airliners, the stock market and our economy.
