Well, the worst cheat ending in FG is the one in "Mars" where Flash dives his stratosled into the one attacking the Clay caves. The door he plans to use to escape through before the collision jams and the stratosled is shown blowing up. In the next episode Flash uses his ray gun to blow open the door and escapes before the collision.
Tha absolute worst cheat ending, however, is in Buck Rogers where Buddy is shown severely wounded by a ray gun but in the following episode he jumps out a window before being hit.
Getting back to FG, I would still like to know in "Mars" in the first episode what it was that threw Zarkov's rocketship out of the Nitron beam after they were clearly hit. Oh, well....
I remember thinking even as a kid that endings like these weren't playing fair.

Barin..oh self proclaimed "real" ruler of Mongo who often wears Roman garb and misplaces a large rocketship in the woods, I pretty much agree with you on the two cheat endings cited above, and the Buddy cheat thing in BR is certainly way over the top. Another I like is in Universe Chap 5 (one of your favorites, I know, with the rope transfer thing between rocketships). FG and company are in a Ming ship with a non-working radio, and they're hit by Barin's (your) "destructo ray." There is an explosion on the ship. The chapter ends..in next chapter, we see the badly damaged ship (still flying mind you!)on fire, and FG brilliantly transmits Morse code visually using ship's ray gun..thus giving you Barin the message to stop firing. You then somehow manage to couple the ships for a mid air rescue getting FG and co. out of harms way.
Barin, though we are on opposing sides, there are times we understand one another and have our own truce of sorts. Now might be such a time. I know your knowledge of sacred scripture on Mongo is vast, but a tip...when on Mars, study some of the writings from Kalu..you might find some additional info. Word in the tree stumps has it that Zarkov realized (in flight from earth) that he made a mistake; that the beam was coming from Mars (not Mongo), and it was said he then had trouble maneuvering his ship, entered the path of the nitron beam, and then started to plummet down. No seatbelts, no air bags...yet they were most fortunate in surviving and going on for 15 Chapters!..and beyond!

Yes, it was indeed fortunate that we survived all those adventures on Mars and Mongo. Surviving adventures on earth, however, is a real problem now that Ming is charging so much for mere gasoline for a stratosled. I went to an earth hardware store today and was overwhelmed by the Mingols required to pay for a short length of copper tubing and parts that Dr. Zarkov required for an experiment. A medicine cabinet for the Incense of Forgetfulness was also in the stratospheric price range.
Another (minor) cheat episode is around Chaper 5 of "Mars" when Flash and the gang, surrounded by the fire, fall victims to the smoke and flames yet by the beginning of the next chapter Flash,now apparently not seriously affected by the flames, has started to rescue everyone. Flash always came through!!!

Universe~ CH 8: At the end, Dale is pushed in "The Fiery Abyss". She screams and dies, yet in the following chapter she is rescued!
