No! Music used and pix just naturally go together in action/adventure FG serial trilogy. Think about another serial, The Phantom Empire. Yes, Gene Autry sings a bit at the ranch, and there might be some music here and there, but don't recall there being much. If it had good action/adventure type instrumental music, think it would have been much more enjoyable. It's a good serial! Among my favorites...but it lacks the melodic/action music we're used to in FG. Just gotta have certain music in my opinion.

Off thread a bit, but think of many of the James Bond flicks, especially those done having the music by John Barry. Priceless.

The music and the serial go together perfectly. Over the years on the occasions that people mentioned the series to me I frequently found that they had, almost to a person, entitled the music "Flash Gordon Fight Music". It's amazing that everyone 1) held this music apart other films and 2)came up with the same title/heading for it.

Of course FG music is perfect for any occasion such as weddings, funerals, investitures of officials, "elevator music", ball games, etc. I usually put it on at bedtime to help me relax and fall asleep more easily.
