There are many, many gems in the trilogy...guess we all have our favorites. Here's a few I like................

'36 Near beginning, upon being informed by Zarkov he may be able to avert the course of the planet rushing toward earth, Flash says..."...well, it's worth trying." (Geez! sure is!)

Also, by Flash, saying to Dale (many times).."Steady, Dale!"

And, after Vultan notes a feast would have been prepared had he known Ming would be visiting, Ming says... "I do not dine with unruly subjects....."

'38 Mars.. Hapgood inquires of the Clay King who might help them (since the Clay people apparently could not)...and the Clay King suggested "....the Forest People, they're a strange race, but honest and powerful." (yeah right, thanks a lot!) In fact, eventually Azura tells Ming the Fire People are the most savage nation on Mars..that no one has ever entered there and lived!

And..later upon meeting Toran and Hapgood being quizzed about his camera (thought to destroy idol at Temple of Kalu)...Hapgood's demo was halted, upon Toran's guard saying..."..if the earthling would press that lever, you would become like the dwarf people and become imprisoned in that magic box..." (Toran subsequently orders they be taken to the Death Cell.)

'40 CTU We find Zarkov speaks Rock! Yes..upon being captured by the Rock People (in the Land of the Dead), after being revived, Flash and friends observe Zarkov can communicate with the hooded Rock people...and when asked what language is it, Zarkov (confidently it seems) says "..It's an ancient language spoken by the lost tribes that once inhabited the Gobi desert on earth." (Wow!..Impressive!)

As stated, there are many great quotes, so many, in fact, that I could go on forever. I agree that the comment by the Clay King that the Forest People, "...are a strange but honest race.." certainly doesn't square with the reality of they're being, as Queen Azura said, "...the most savage nation on Mars".

With that said, here are a few of my favorites:

1) From "Universe" :Ming orders Captain Suden to open the flood control valve but Suden hesitates, questioning Ming's directive. Ming replies, "Are you going to obey?" with all the tyrannical menace that Ming can muster. It's Middleton at his peak form.

2) From "Mars" : Happy Hapgood's comment while sitting imprisoned in the Forest Kingdom's Death Cell, "Just to think, I used to be the best reporter on the New York Dispatch and here I am trying to dig myself out of a hole in the ground on Mars". Who hasn't felt that way at some time?

3) From "Mars" : When Flash addresses the assembled nobles who are to elect Ming as ruler he says, "Ming would have you believe he's your friend. He's nobody's friend but his own".

4) In "FG '36" : After Flash has vanquished me, Prince Barin, in combat Ming states, "He's won the right to fight the mighty Beast of Mongo". Ming just never gives up.

5) And what has to be my all-time favorite, this time from "Universe" after Ming watches the apparent drowning of Flash, Zarkov, and me, his son-in-law, Prince Barin, Ming announces, "I must tell Princess Aura of this interesting event". Ming was always a kindly and considerate father and father-in-law in wishing to keep his daughter well informed, this time of the death of her husband.

And there are dozens of other great lines. They writers must have had great fun thinking up this stuff!
