Hi Linda,

The bidet toilet seats are nicer in some ways and not as nice in others.

The nice features are electric seat warmers and a blow dryer built in. Most have either two spray nozzles or a single nozzle with position control. The stream is often powerful enough to squirt water up your ass which works as a small enema. In fact, one Korean maker Izen explicitly calls it an enema function. Some of the sprays are strong enough to make my behind sore if used more than briefly fully turned on. Most of them have soft close seats and lids. The bidet seats only require a cold water supply and electricity, unlike a real bidet which is a fairly big plumbing job.

On the down side, most of the bidet seats have a tank to hold warmed water, so after about a minute the water turns cold. I don't like that much. The Toto Jasmin has no tank so will run as long as wanted and stay warm. It'd be my choice.

There are also some bidet attachments that connect to hot and cold water and mount under the existing seat. These would likely work fairly well.

Sometimes local high end plumbing showrooms have them installed, so you can take a test drive.

As to douching, the angle of the spray makes it hard for much water to get up inside, although the outside area is well washed.
