hoover has a done a nice job with the program. he has taken a team without basically two senior classes and been competitive..nearly winning the big six this year. yes, they were the number 1 seed in probably the toughest most balanced regional in the state. galesburg and ri split games, and finished tied in the big six. sterling and ri split 4 games on the year, with the difference being like 2 points. geneseo beat sterling but lost to ri, in close games. sterling actually won their conference but was seeded behind geneseo.

nest the best part of what hoover has done is not evident in the varsity record. he has made basketball important and ok for the girls. the youth program is 180% turned around. it has gone from playing 6-8 games and having 6-8 practices all year to having the opportunity to be involved year around with summer and fall leagues and open gyms. it shows. the sophs without brewer, went from a team with basically only a couple kids who could play to beating every team in the big six, and nearly winning the conference. coming up the junior high teams were among the worst around losing to basically everyone, any win was because brewer was the best on the court.
the freshmen, who played without hoover, ramsey and clark finished second in the big six and played way over .500. this is coming from a junior program that has one team basically never win in 3 years and the other play .500 ball. now the jr high teams have depth and talent, and are among the best. coinicidence?
yes, the program will be ok if henry took over, however coach hoover has changed the landscape of girls basketball and it would be a shame to not allow him to see this through.
not everyone will like him. some had daughters that used to play that don't play as much or at all now. some are blindly loyal to rod..who is a great guy. some just want to see people fail. people still say good and bad things about vic and duncan. it's the nature of the beast but coach hoover has done a great -not good job and for them to not find everyway possible to get him is crazy.
