NYC Parks and The People Who Use Them With Respect

Welcome! to an Open Forum
for those of us who pay for (with our taxes) and (try to) enjoy the New York City Parks!

Note this forum's policy concerning "abuse" by clicking HERE.

We're taxed for cigarettes, services, food, clothing.
We're surcharged for telephone.
One minute City Hall tells us there's a defecit.
The next minute they find excess funds.

Our taxes are paying the salaries of the Parks Commissioner, Adrian Benepe!
Our taxes are paying the salaries of the employees of the NYC Parks Dept.
This includes the people who are supposed to be keeping our parks clean and safe and enjoyable.

Meanwhile...
1. WE CAN'T USE OUR BEACHES BECAUSE
BENEPE CLAIMS HE'S WAITING FOR NEW LIFEGUARDS TO GRADUATE FROM SCHOOL!
2. "Security" is posted where lifeguards should be.
3. Taxpayers are demanded to get out and stay out of our waters.
4. The Bronx River - Norwood to Gun Hill - has been stripped of foilage.
5. Trees along the river have been "girdled" so they die slowly.
6. The wildlife that was once returning to the river is gone... AGAIN!
7. The NRG insists that The Bronx River overflows its banks when it rains.
(Those of us who actually USE the river know that it hasn't overflown in YEARS!)
8. Some people are allowed open fires to barbeque in our parks, destroying the lawns.
9. Laws governing loud noises in public places aren't enforced, forcing us to listen to vulgar lyrics.
10. Legitimate vendors are being forced to close down because licenses are becoming too expensive.
(Meanwhile, park and beach users are being harrassed by
"Cold Water! Cold Beer!" vagrants, re-selling supermarket beverages.

There's so much more that's WRONG with our parks and
here's where New York City, ALL 5 boroughs, gets to post the truth.

So let's hear from you New York!
