Subject: Impressed

After being away from The Bronx River for several years, I've recently returned to the neighbourhood and have been to the river in the area I worked, diligently and very hard in. I have one word to describe my reaction: "Impressive".

The amount of plant-life (trees, shrubs, &c.) that has been removed is "impressive".
The amount of river bank that has been removed/modified is "impressive".
The decrease in the amount of shade available... "impressive".
The increase in the temperature along the walks... "impressive".
The absence of varied life in and out of the water... "impressive".
The lack of diversity in the trees and shrubs that have been planted... "impressive".
The introduction of non-organic materials (steel, aluminum, plastic, &c.)... "impressive".
The misinformation posted on the little plaque on French Charlie's Bridge... "impressive".
The fact that NYC takes it for granted that we're all a bunch of ignorant and silent slobs... "impressive".
The blatant indication that the NRG and Parks believes that we all will believe what they've posted... "impressive".
The fact that people stood by in silence and permitted this rape and pillaging to reach this point... "impressive".
And, the fat that the boardwalks have already required MORE attention and that the wood planks have already had to be replaced (at the taxpayers' expense no matter how you look at it... equally "impressive".

When, in Van Cort Park, the walk-ways are built of composite material which requires virtually no maintenance, and in view of the fact that I suggested this material in the first place, there is no reason/excuse for it not being used along The Bronx River.

Yes. I am "impressed". VERY "impressed"... Indeed.

What a calamity. What a farce. What a shame!
