Subject: The River's History

The Bronx River was used as a means of tranportation for the First Nations of this area. When the Kensico Dam was completed, about 25% of the water that used to flow down the river was dammed/diverted. Then too, came Robert Moses who mangled the original route of the river, straightened it out and that brought more erosion and consequently, the even lower level of the water in the river.

The sign at French Charlies Bridge says that there's too much silting. Well, who the hell put the sand on the banks? Where's the sense in that? Rain falls and washes the sand into the river. The silting rises, the water levels are less and, well, where's the sense?

"Parks" indeed, and "NRG"? I don't think so!

Oh, and while I'm at it, those herrings that were thrown in? Did anybody consider the other fish and birds and turtles that were there BEFORE all of this "invasion"?
