Subject: Autumn on The Bronx River

Well, the Summer season is gone and the leaves are falling all along our beautiful river. It's really a wonderful time of the year to visit, walk along the banks, contemplate, meet people. It's really unfortunate that the Parks Dept. has all but destroyed the atmosphere down here with the "type" of people it's managed to attract. In spite of the trash receptacles they've placed there, there's all sorts of "stuff" that shouldn't be along a river - it SHOULD be in the trash cans in the homes of those who dropped it there. But I suppose we should be happy with the smallest things in life: like the fact that SOME people DO use the proper recepatcles. Anyway, here's to hoping the river survives the coming Winter. I, for one, am looking forward to the calmness that I used to find down there and to meeting some more of the brave and stoic people I've enjoyed meeting in Winters past!
