  The particular site in question at this time is said by their mission statement: "To empower the world's trendsetters to congregate and define fashion." There are Terms of Service for all who register on the site to include not using photos without permission or with copyright (most photographers have their pics copyrighted). Terms of Service also includes the info on how to make a claim if your pics have been used without permission, etc. Looks relatively easy. All of this info is on the below "event".
  
  You are highly encouraged to take a look at the info on my "event" page on FB. It is set with no privacy, so all can see. You can also see what is below that info, like how you can make a claim to remove pics, etc. Please just go take a look, read, and check.

  Photo contest entries are at an all time low and I'm starting to understand why.
  
  I have tried contacting 3 different contests (that had current banners posted) with questions I had that were not answered on their site.
  
  NO ONE REPLIED!!!
  Why do you have a contest and not answer emails for days?
  So I emailed again and no replies again!
  
  I entered 2 other contests without contacting the director first. Sent the paypal and photos. Then had questions and NO REPLY. Never saw contestants posted for either of them. Never got a reply to my emails when/where contestants would be posted. Found a winners banner eventually for one of the contests that only had a supreme on it, not minis or the other titles the site said they would also award.
  
  What's happening? Why are these contests being run so half-heartedly? If you aren't going to give it 110% then close up shop. YOU ARE GIVING THE GOOD DIRECTORS A BAD NAME BY ASSOCIATION AND ITS HURTING EVERYONE.
  
  I won't post here who the offending contest owners are, but you can bet I've told all of my friends who will never enter either.

  • my pet peeve is why a contest takes 2 or 3 days to post contestants after deadline when they only have a dozen or fewer entries but then you have a contest who can have twice that and have them posted the next day PLUS i personally am an instant gratification person so my patience is limited, if the deadline is on a sunday dont make me wait 3 days for results, lol (NT) -- No name, 08:32:56 06/22/10 Tue
    • The wait on this one I can understand. Some of the contests have professional websites who only can use their webmaster to post the contestants. And sometimes the webmaster can't do it for a day or two. I don't have a problem with this.     • Most conetstants enter at the last minute (I'm sure that's a pet peeve to MANY directors lol). So it takes time to download all the big photo files, resize them (and most resize in 2 sizes, the thumbnail and then the full size photo), upload them, make a contestants table, and then add the photos. And I have never seen a contest that didn't state how long it would take photos to be posted. If you read the rules, you should see when directors will have them up as well as winners, if you don't like it, don't enter. As far as emails...I could see maybe 1 director not answering them, but if it's more than one, perhaps something is wrong with your email host or theirs. If you really need to get to them, post a message that you are trying to contact them on this board or the black board. I bet you'll get a response then. (NT) -- No name, 06:27:39 06/23/10 Wed
      • I'm the OP and not complaining about the length of time it takes to post contestants for some directors. I'm complaining that to my knowledge they never were posted and there is NO CONTACT updating your paying contestants either with most directors these days. I checked all the sites daily, refreshed, and nothing. One of the contests promised several winners and finally I did find a banner, but it only had one winner. Again, no answers to my emails. And nothing is wrong with my email. I get 100's of them every day I work online and the only problems I've ever had are with some photo contest directors. There's no way it's on my end. I'm just saying, if you are a director and can't understand why your entries are low, I've just probably explained why people aren't bothering with you anymore. In your case, since you never even saw them posted, that is something totally different and is unacceptable. With email, you can get 100's of emails everday and still not get them all.   • Every contest is ran differently and as long as the director does things in a timely manner (especially those that run a PC all on their own with no webmasters, etc) is fair, pays right away and is professional, why complain? You have to be patient. PC directors have lives & families, too. You're not going to always get the Contestants and Winners in like, 2 days like you would at a pageant - PCs are different than pageants, lol. Dunno what to say about e-mails, though. I wouldn't like to think directors are "ignoring" people, all the ones I have dealt with are nice. E-mails can go to Spam and some just never get through. Gotta love computer technology. • Camera question: I really need a new camera and would like to invest in a Canon Rebel XI (everyone raves about those, lol) but my budget is $500 or under - so a GOOD "used" one is fine to start with, I don't need a $1,000 camera, lol. However, is the "Image stabilizer" a setting within the camera itself or is this something you need to purchase separately? Like a lens, etc? Also what are some good XI models to look into?   • I started digital with the Rebel XT. Loved it, but I was coming from using a Hasselblad prior to that, so anything else was going to be a walk in the park. I would totally consider a Canon used for a starter camera if I had a choice, you may also want to check into an inexpensive Nikon, great quality without the 'reddish' you sometimes get with Canon. The image stabilizer is special lenses, although I do think most digital cameras have some type of anti-shake settings/features now. I use a Canon 40D with Image stabilizer lenses all around for my primary camera and love the results. Make sure you also know about how to reduce that shaky effect with the proper settings on your camera, don't use auto settings, adjust them manually.
