I will help Mr.Shaw out. Vote Yes for Article 6.
Yes, I did work hard getting this noticed and have not finished.
Mr. Shaw speaks of the grade level of Forest Park Road.
What he hasn't mentioned is that years ago the residents were told when the sewer was to be installed they would have a pumping station behind 245 Forest Park Rd. The residents had to find out through a worker that grinder pumps would be installed at each individual home. (16 of them).
Yet a good citizen who lives across the way - Windsor Ave.
(the forest divides these streets) called and told me that they and Dexter Ave. would have had a grinder pump had it not been for the town paying to have an easement through the state forest so they would be conneced. When I called Colleen Garry on this I was told it was true. She quoated me $100,000 was spent.
Now I ask you why should some residents have to pay for the installation, maintenance, and purchase the next pump for 1400.00 when it goes plus the sewer fee per year, when others only pay the sewer fee. Shouldn't these grinder pumps be covered by the sewer dept?
Another item.....Mr. Peindack (SP?) has commented at the Selectmens meeting we had with him that there were 100 grinder pumps already in use. First of all there are 84.
Second, Blackberry Fields and Stonebridge are the majority of these. Let me also say this. Both these properties bought their homes knowing they had grinder pumps. Forest Park and Raven are established roads and many on Forest Park have been living there for 38 yrs.
How do I feel about Blackberry and Stonebridge - I don't find it right that they pay full sewer fees when they have to maintain their pumps.
Now Hildreth Street - 3 of houses are rented so these people don't have the burden, 1 house bought the house with pump and hates it and is attending in favor of us. One resident spoke in favor of us at the Sewer Meeting. He said he just bought his home and if he knew he had a grinder pump he would not have purchased the home.
1 house on Textile Ave. Owner lives in Salem Nh, House is rented.
Raven Rd. now has the pumps - One resident had his pump malfunction within 2 days. It was fixed. How should he feel when It is only quaranteed for 18 months and has to purchase the next one if it goes.
Ask yourself - Would you want the burden of installation, maintaining, paying for the electricity every time you use the pump - toilet, wash clothes, take a shower, use kitchen sink, purchase the next pump when it goes and then write out that yearly sewer fee check like the rest of the homes that are coneecte to the sewer do. Its not fair.
Lets take a hard look at where our money is being distributed in Dracut. Lets look at who knows who and takes care of those people.
Its time we take care of our townspeople. All of them.
Warren vote Yes on Article 6 - you will sleep better at night knowing you made the right choice.
