Okay paperboy, let�s review Journalism 101..

Accuracy: If you cared to read any of my other posts it should become quite evident that I harbor no personal disdain for Warren Shaw or any other Town Official. I am sometimes critical of them but that criticism is usually framed in a humorous fashion. And while I may not always agree with them, let me state clearly that I have respect for all of them simply because they choose to serve. I think if you ask Mr. Shaw, he�ll agree that I have never attacked him personally, not even close.

What is the main idea: Remember those exercises in grade school? You were asked to read a paragraph and capture the main idea? While it serves your purposes to spin this as a personal vendetta against Mr. Shaw, the main idea of that paragraph was questioning the DSN�s independence as a journalistic enterprise. By your fervent and reactionary defense of Warren, in a public forum such as this web site, you only further illustrate my point on this topic. Whereas Warren is a Town Official and whereas the DSN purports to be an independent newspaper, it would seem a conflict with most standards of objective journalism to have him as a regular contributor. (Not that I don�t enjoy reading his column.) This would also be true for Ms. Garry. These are the people you should be reporting on and about. How does that happen, with integrity and objectivity if they are partially responsible for the product you wish to sell?

Fact VS Opinion. Another favorite exercise of mine. Nothing I wrote was factual. It was opinion based on my �perceptions�. All opinions are based on perceptions and I am at a loss to understand that whole perceiving and judging jive you threw at me. I am guilty of both judging and perceiving. I think they go hand in hand but you�ve got me wondering about that.

I�m not here to tear down your paper. I read it every week. I like it. I was just giving my opinion on this aspect of it.

Finally, I wish to thank those of you who understand the spirit with which I engage the debate here. I�m just a guy who works 9 to 5 and who occasionally has some fun writing on this forum. That some of you enjoy what I write only makes it better.
