Good for you. You can take about 400 micro grams a day for a month or so to get your levels up. I have changed my daily dose to 400 mcg.

Selenium Protocol

Selenium is a VERY important mineral for your health. Selenium is deficient in the soils surrounding the major population centers in this country. Most of the food we eat is almost totally devoid of the minerals magnesium and selenium due to the poor farming practices of our agriculture industry. Selenium has been shown to be deficient in most of the population. A Selenium deficiency may worsen the effects of iodine deficiency on your thyroid (See Thyroid Protection Protocol) function. A Selenium deficiency condemns you to death by AIDS (See AIDS Protection Protocol) should you contract the HIV virus.

It has been shown that without selenium viruses will replicate rapidly thus selenium is vitally important to fight a virus (See Virus Fighting Protocol). Selenium is required for
Vitamin E (See Vitamin E Protocol) and your thyroid gland to function.

Selenium is considered to be from 200 to 500 times more potent an antioxidant than Vitamin E. Selenium chelates (See Chelation Protocol) heavy metals. It is important for the protection of heart cells and other cells against oxidative damage. As selenium levels decrease cardio vascular disease increases

Selenium deficiency has been linked to a wide variety of disorders and diseases.

I supplement with 400mcg of Selenium most days. IMO you can safely take 600 mcg per day at least for a few weeks if you have had a deficient diet. Studies have shown that prolonged daily selenium intakes of 750 to 850 micrograms do not produce adverse effects. Once again we are warned about getting too MUCH of a vital substance when 90% of us are getting too LITTLE. Why do you suppose this constantly happens? You would think the law of averages would apply SOMETIME would you not.

IMO you must take a Selenium supplement most days, as you cannot be assured of getting any, unless you eat Brazil nuts. A few good-sized Brazil nuts should be your daily supply of Selenium.
