Well well,
here we are the day before I go back to good old Leicester and I still haven't packed! Brilliant!
Thanks to Matt & Dan for coming to Glawster for my 21st, goodness I feel old now!
Anyway, Chantry I think you left your shoes here so if you're coming up to Leicester before you go to America then you can collect them then, otherwise I'll post them to you I suppose.
Hope everyone is well and I'll see you all soon back in Leicester. Everyone have safe journeys back. All the best to Matt in America, and good luck to everyone embarking upon their final year. See you all for graduation in the summer of 2007, all being well.

- The Value of Drink -- Nick, 21/07/06 3:09pm [1]
The Value of a Drink
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine
I drink, I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went:
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

I shall have to see what I can do about the gathering at Chantry's in August. With 2 jobs now it is probably going to be pretty difficult to get the time off work :-( but I will try. Also money is an issue although you might argue that with 2 jobs I should have the money, but you're wrong, WRONG I TELL YOU! The money from one of the jobs is going into my savings so it's not as glamourous as it seems.
I'll do my best though people

August Gathering -- Boycie, 12/07/06 3:21pm [3]
Hi guys the definite date for coming down here now should be the 4th to the 8th, though it can be altered slightly if anyone really cannot do those dates. Though you will need a good excuse! Simon has said he will give people a lift if they get to ipswich or to somewhere between there and my house. My postcode is da3 7as for anyone needing to get directions from the AA or something. Anyone coming on the train needs to get to victoria in london and get the train into longfield from there. takes around 35 minutes from victoria. For you jersey boys if you have the cash you are welcome to join us in fact you are encouraged to do so. I dont mind helping you out with getting here if you have any problems just give me advanced notice. There will be 3 beds for people when they are here but there are 5 sofas in two different rooms so bring your sleeping bags or something. I have sorted it for the 4th because that is a friday night so we can all go on a jolly and see the sights of kent. Choice of three places to out including London but will worry about that nearer the time. A night out in london will be around £50 but only £30 near me and that will include travel etc. I have washing machine and dryer so clothes can be washed and there are 3 showers so it shouldnt take to long for anyone to get ready. Bring toiletries obviously and clothes for going out (smart shoes!!) and clothes for footie too as there is a park nearby incase anyone gets the urge for some sporting action. We'l do a excursion to my local supermarket on the first day too to get stocked up on alcohol and food for everyone and will get some bbq food for the set we have in our garden. A good idea for sunday maybe?
Think ive gone on enough now so just let me know about anything ie travel or if you want the date changed a bit. Either leave me a reply send me an email or a text or ring me.
Ciao for now
Chant

Actually channers i am feeling the 20/20 cricket at the moment its always on the telly and much more interestin then test cricket... i might be going with my lil bro to see notts vs northamps in the qtrfinal so look into that final at nottingham i could take him with...
As for the world cup we never really got going... just think its a shame he didn't give Lennon a bit more of a showing against portugal perhaps when we had 11 men on the pitch... i aint blaming ronaldo for the rooney sending off i think it was more the ref just adding rooney's scalp to his hall of shame tut tut ruined the game, like all the diving does as well.
channers just post a message on here when u get dates sorted out and i'll try and work around em...

Well then fellas...so much to say! Starting wiv footy...i aint mentioning the world cup, 'cos gotta look forward, and that was just depressing! Mclaren will hopefully sort out all our issues, namely substitions, lets have four strikers in Euro 2008, like in the WAFA Cup! Now that was entertaining football! and i think our defence is pretty solid!
Moving onto Channers house party!- If any1 wants a lift, or want to leave their car at mine (Andy M) or get a train to Swich, i'm more than willing to sort any1 out, il even pick u Jersey jokers up for Norwich (Naaaarwich) Airport (i know its the land of scum, but its the nearest airport wiv Jersey connections (i think)) or even Stansted, cos thats even closer!and en route!, then il even stretch to that! So let me know any1! What date is every1 free? Im busy on the 12th Aug (so cant make cricket im afraid!), but free every other day, so any probs wiv say... 5-9 August? Thats a Saturday - Wednesday???
Neeeeck, i think i can mayke it tooo your bertdayy mayyte! As ets in Septemberrr! But il let u knoww nearrerr the tyme!! Assume me 75% positive!
As for Heskey! Wigan have just proven that they have TOO much money! What a joke! Bet Nelly creamed in his pants when he heard that! £5.5m! Ha!
Anyhows, gotta be off to wrk! Those of u who r still jobless...sort your lifes out!!

20/20 Cricket -- Matt, 6/07/06 10:49pm [2]
Taking the subject away from footie for a while (still cant bear to think about it) who is up for the 20/20 finals day in august (might be during my house thing). Its on the 12th and is up in Nottingham (near you dan, though i know you cant stand cricket!). Kent and GLoooooooooucester are well placed to be there if they can avoid each other in the quarters and both the semis and final take place on the same day. Will be a good laugh. Anyone who is up for it and just put a reply to this and ill look into it.
If you guys are still up for the start of august for a few days you may wanna start deciding the days you are all gonna come here. If one person comes in a car it would be useful, obviously that wont be posssible for residents of the rock unless you have an aqua car or something! Anytime from the 2nd to the 10th is good so try and get time of work like i have for then and look into train times. Anyone that is going in a car that goes past anyone else or could take a slight detour would be good too.
See you all then hopefully.

Crying Shame -- Westy, 6/07/06 7:14pm [2]
Well what can i say, England are out again. I have reflected over the last couple of days when our luck will change. Penalties! Not again, the country needs to find a cure. The game against Portugal was very frustrating to watch. The fact that Portugal players seem to go down with a gust of wind these days is amazing, it spoils the game. They continued this trend in the semis.
As for Mr Ronaldo, what is he doing? He doesn't help himself. For all the talent he has, he still continues to fall over too much. As a United fan it annoys me that he always lowers himself to cheat when it doesn't need to be done. The Rooney incident hasn't helped either, getting involved with the sending off and winding him up before the game. Will he go back to United, that will be interesting to see...
The Sven case... I have never had full faith in his ability. His poor selection of the squad, basically Walcott and not showing enough passion or tactical skill to win games has proven our downful. Hopefully, Mclaren will get us back on track. At least he is British, Wahay!
Anyway enough reflecting, lets look to the future. I hear Wigan are doin Birmingham a favour tryin to buy Heskey worth a reported 5.5m. He aint even worth £5,000.

Portugal -- Nelly, 6/07/06 6:47pm [1]
Well its pretty much over now, good world cup for us portuguese... Just couldn't make the most of our chances against the French but oh well, germany now on saturday... Shame you english are still bitter about losing to us, especially over ronaldo making him the scapegoat but thats your problem, yes he does dive but ronaldo didnt get rooney sent off, rooney did... Ronaldo's an awesome player who will get some stick when he gets back, but would you be judging us so harshly if it had not been us that knocked you out... Totti, henry, ballack get no mention but they have all dived.. Maybe your just putting the focus on us because we beat you once again

Portugal's going home at last. Dirty cheating bastards. I hope Piss-tiano Ronaldo doesn't come back to England, he'll get slated. Did everyone hear the abuse he got from the frogs?
Now I want the French to win slightly, it'll be a good send off for Zidane and co. What a legend

- Nick's 21st -- Nick, 26/06/06 2:25pm [2]
Now then lads, it's my 21st on Saturday September 9th. Anyone who wants to come down for the weekend is more than welcome, we are having a BBQ on the saturday and then hitting the town, either Gloucester or Cheltenham.
One minor problem may arise with the fact that I'm going back to Leicester on Monday the 11th. This is because my parents are going on holiday on the weekend after my birthday and Leicester have a home game on Tuesday the 12th so it makes sense for me to go back on the Monday.
Anyway, you all got my number so give me a txt or use the message board to let me know what's going on. Cheers people.

Hey Hey, hope everyone will be tuning in to watch Leicester's first game of the season on Sky TV. Luton away, another season to pass without the visit to Kenilworth Road for me (no Luton mug)
Also we are on against Cov away on Aug 18. Hope the opening fixture is better than last season, which incidentally was also on sky. 4-1 at Bramall Lane.
Anyone interested in coming to the Birmigham away game on September 28, I'll be there :-D

- Bonjour! -- Westy, 22/06/06 6:30pm [2]
G'day lads! How is all? Heres me first msg posted 4 yas...
Hope everyone is enjoying being back home and enjoying (cant forget) the World Cup... Come on England!
Well it has been 3 different games played by England in the group stages. My theory to this being that Sven has decided to give Mclaren the half time team talk and tactical changes in the 2nd half. You could call it 'work experience' Sven is giving him, as he will be taking the job in July. Mclaren's tactics have worked only in the 2nd game. Hmmmm, a pattern possibly, one game right - one game wrong. There for the game against Ecuador we will win, comfortably...
As for the striker crisis, poor Owen. 3 strikers left. Simple! Play a 4-5-1 Sven.
5 across the midfield should be J.Cole, Gerrard, Funtime, Beckham (get ya arse in gear sunshine) & Lennon, with Rooney upfront gettin support from the midfield. Easy! >-)

- Under Pressure -- Eeyore, 21/06/06 10:46pm [2]
Hey, so I thought I'd better post a message after relentless pressure from Chantry to post something.
Who did everyone in the lower, more exciting leagues, get in the Carling Cup? Leicester got Maccelsfield, ironically we play them in a pre-season friendly.
We need to know dates of this do at Chantry's house in August as well.
Exams went well for me, in my modules I got two 60s, a 61 and a 54...on track for a 2:1 :-)
Very sad news about Owen, poor boy :-( England should have taken Darren Bent, highest scoring English man in the Premiership, or even Defoe, even though he couldn't get in the Spurs team. Ah well, everyone has a degree in hindsight.
COME ON ENGLAND! As Sham 69 say *We're Gonna Win The Cup*
