The Holy Spirit: Hard to understand scriptures.

John 14:15-16
15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask
the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you
forever—
Acts 5:32
32We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom
God has given to those who obey him."
********************************************************************
The above scriptures appear to attack the core doctrine of mainstreem
Christianity. This is due to the english translation on the versus.
Here is a resource provided to understand the correct meaning.

John 14:15-16

But the question is now this, in what way are we to obey God so that
we will be sealed with His Holy Spirit?

Look at acts 2:38:

This is the answer.
" 38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the
name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
The symbolism of baptism and the meaning of repentence will clear up
your understanding this scripture, but that is in another lesson.
Study this current lesson very closely, and remember that none of
these scriptures contradicts Romans 10:8-11:

Romans 10:8-11
8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and
in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That
if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it
is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture
says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
