Here's raisin' a tall flute o' champagne to you, m' dearest Mrs. Ewing! With hopes the Ewing roots stay deep an' firm in ol' Southfork. Health an' prosperity!

I see ol' Archie Tecture's made a flash an' decided t' roundup the herd an' git the lit'le doggies along the trail. Sad. Just sad. More good ideas goin' out o'er the horizon. Can't say I blame 'im. But I sure'd like t'know why an' which homestead.

I was down by the ol' NSB th'other day. Thought o' Archie's list while I drove up Broadway. Got me t' thinkin' how the trees that used t'be there are gone. Some new paint jobs in not so historic colors (ARC?). More demolition. No Cameo, Broadway, Ritz. Y'can't run a dog down S. Wm St. the way it is these days. No bus station. No Grand Union. No A&P. Can't do no marketin' down that way. Bear's gone. Strook's gone. Old DuPont lookin' like an' ol' tombstone. Business just gone. No dang reason for anybody t' even think 'bout takin' that drive down a street with one o'the greatest views in the Hudson Valley.

An' right at the end, right where the view is so nice is our city hall. A building full o'folks an' just no clues.

I don't get it. I just don't get it. Do all them people go there t'sleep?

Oh well. The Old Guard's disappearin' but we ain't all gone... yet. Maybe this year we'll roundup a posse an' set the city heifers off on a good ol'fashion stampede round the barnyard.
