Saw this. Reminded me that I recently was talking with somebody out in the boondocks on a ski trip. I mentioned Newburgh. He told me he went to school in Poughkeepsie back in about 2007. Said he used to go to Newburgh for "Spanish" food because it was authentic there. I had to laugh and told him that yeah it's authentic but the Spanish there are mostly illegal Mexicans and the rest are pretty much drug gangers. So he laughed and said he liked the food but the town was, in his word "dicey". So Newburgh's gone to dicey now. I had to tell him that he missed the better years and went from the days when the waterfront was the business center of the Hudson Valley through the really rought 70s. He couldn't believe the part about the business center but he had no trouble believing the race riots of the 70s and all the rest after that. Damn shame when you can't tell people the good side of Newburgh. But he also knew that Newburgh is always on the list of the 10 Toughest Towns in the US. Great publicity. No wonder the place can't ever make a comeback. It's time to do something about that. Maybe clean house from government to the people. I don't know. Maybe send some of the "African" Americans back home to Africa and get the illegals and drug businesses out. But I know I'm spitting into the wind on this one.
