Nicky Valentine, the tailor who was once mayor. Lost a civil suit to a couple of women who claimed he manhandled them in his fitting room. His decisions as mayor were always bad for the city although he was a decent councilman. He's responsible for the city paying $140,000 for that abandoned brick building in Audrey Carey Park to a crooked organization run by a scammer that owed back rent to the city. The organization had purchased the property from the city for $1 and ran it to the ground. If this isn't direct proof of corruption in this city nothing is. JAM mentioned below is Jean Ann McGrane, a former city manager who was an alcoholic. Within a few months of being hired she drove her city-provided vehicle into a tree and drove off when the property owners approached leaving the bumper- and license plate behind. She showed up at work with a broken ankle claiming she had broken it while walking her dog. She kept her job for years in spite of leaving the scene of an accident, most likely drunk, and went on to play right into the corruption. Look up the stories on the Time Herald Record. They read like fiction.
