Welcome "newbie", to the war. This board was opened many years ago when the 166166 was in full throes of blocking, banning, deleting, silencing every voice that disagreed with the founders of it in any manner. New to Newburgh themselves, they made their intentions perfectly clear on their venue: They'd come to rewrite Newburgh history & their own. Once little fish in a big pond, the came to Newburgh to become big fish in a little swamp. Narcissists all, they set out to sway the local malcontents & hoped to take the place by storm. Nothing they did was to be questioned, and their forum (166166) was their center of propaganda. If they didn't take to you off the forum, you were instantly silenced. Then came 205957 and the shit hit the fan! But the fact remains that both forums remain even after all these years. This one goes silent for long periods of time because it never was "the forum" for the whiners & illiterates. And like the title says: Monitored Not Censored", vulgarities for the sake of being vulgar would get your post deleted. This isn't a highbrow forum. It's not elitist (as was the 166166). It was opened for people who have legitimate concerns for & about Newburgh, for people who KNOW that Newburgh doesn't HAVE to be a ghetto-slum toilet. For a while, most of the people who participated here were actual Newburghers who had history here. Sadly, most of them have either moved away for their own safety or because of age (or poison water) have died.

The 166166 still holds its popularity because it was THE resource in its day. This forum was squelched like the forbidden lands. Those who craved attention stayed with the 166166 because it gave them a sense of acceptance and belonging. Narcissists.

That said, I wouldn't think you're "one of the idiots". I believe this thread addresses the spelling, language, the vocabulary, the grammar of the other forum and let's be honest, a LOT of it is either "Core Curriculum" or "Special Education" (or just plain ignorance). Your posts don't reflect that sort of "challenge" so don't take it personally. You're free to choose one forum or the other just as much as you're free to participate in both. And how you express your findings, thoughts, opinions is entirely up to you.

Meanwhile, welcome! Be prepared for some turbulence, maybe even as much as a forum version of an all-out street fight. But then again, there used to be a lot of really great people here. Maybe some of them are still around. Maybe some will come back. Hopefully more will come and join. Like you, a "newbie", your contributions are what keep things moving, alive, in the forefront. Welcome!
