Really great reading and a little frightening. But when we remember who it was that beached on this shore in the first place a lot becomes obvious. We are a nation founded on biggotted, almost blind, self centered, ego centric, delusional religious fanatics who fundamentally rejected all beliefs in everything that conflicted with their own in any way. These Puritans came here to this land to "escape" persecution, perceived or real, to create their own version of "Utopia". Fom these came the people who wrote our "Declaration of Independence" and the laws of their new country, love it or leave it. In the name of life, liberty, happiness and justice came "the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air". More than 200 years later little has changed.

What HAS changed is the steady move toward the death of one very simple basic concept: ethics. Evolutionists believe that the development of ethical awareness is the indication of higher evolution of humankind. To be aware of other and regard the other with the same ethical consideration with which one would wish to be regarded.

What does this say about our founders and those who injure others and destroy our surroundings? This land was taken in violence and continues a policy of violence, locally and federally. But not ALL people follow that pattern.

We are "created" equal by biological reproduction. Not all of us "evolve" equally. The freedoms in the Declaration are not entitlements. They are privileges that are earned through ethical behavior, consideration of and care for Other as well as Self.

"God" should not be the reason for ethical behavior. The simple fact that I don't want to be violated therefore I don't violate should be the basic cause for a just society.

So I agree with the first post. I was created equal but I certainly did not evolve into an equal with the kinds of people that are mentioned. Still in Nature there are parasites. Humankind is no exception. It's just part of the Plan. The rest of us work toward ethical behavior.
