Subject: So "Scoundrels" has had it's 8-episode "audition".....


.... and is waiting in the Lobby for the test results to come back. What are the prospects for this show? Does it have what it takes to hold down a spot in the regular season?

A few things I've liked about the show:
1) I'm liking the characters more - I don't find any of them annoying any more.
2) For all its supposed scandalousness, it's sort of a "kinder, gentler" show. It's not too edgy, or dark and brooding.
3) DJE as Wolf is great - especially on the phone w/ Cheryl on her birthday. You could tell he meant every word. And also his conversation with Cal about fatherhood. Beautiful words, beautiful and 100% real emotion. Thanks David!

Things that bother me...
1) What happened to Heather? Wasn't she the girl who slipped that loser a mickey in the second ep and then tied him up? Where did the chutzpah go?
2) Okay, maybe Hope is the character that annoys me most now. Aside from her almost-first-time with her geeky guy friend, when are we ever going to see her off kilter? She's really good at doing the revenge thing - okay, we get it now - but when is she going to face a tough challenge?
3) It's *too* nice. Not that I think we need more gritty tv, but this show is too clean, too neat, too "nice". I have a feeling that's going to be it's downfall. 10 years ago, this might have worked, but now... it's a bit formulaic, a bit predictable, and, as I've said before, the production values (setting, lighting, makeup, wardrobe...) are all too "nice" and provide too little contrast for the campy fun stuff.

Anyway, won't Mr. Hong be surprised when his kid has blonde hair and blue eyes? LOL

[> I'm with you on all your comments but the last one. I dont see this show as too nice. There have been places, quite a few places that were pretty high on the ick factor. I dont think its formulaic either, not following any show formula that I've ever followed before, mybe thats why I'm not getting the too nice thing. See some chemistry between VM's character & DJE's and it could be a real "I dont like you, but I love you" kind of thing, we'll see. To me, this show has been all over the map, & while the characters have become more watchable, its anyones guess where they will go from here. -- mkim Doesnt Logan/Cal have brown eyes, which is real mystery since neither Wolf not Cheryl have brown eyes either. hmmm...another secret? [> The show has had its ups and downs during its 8 week run. I think there is material there to build on, but don't know if it'll get a second season. DJE did a wonderful job as Wolf, but some of the storyline writing was lacking overall.
