Subject: Coupster Update... Hey J1, JB...

Ok, for those of you who don't know, I sold my Model A pickup cab that I've been clinging on to for a couple years. Last friday I went up to Cedar Park and picked up a '27 Model T Coupe that had the roof lopped off like a roadster. RJ, J-Deuce, and Riley helped load her up and we hung out at the most bitchin shop ever while we were there.

So I got a Model A frame from a buddy, missing the front crossmember, but has everything else, and in great shape. I'm swapping 3 stock axles for a dropped Model A axle, running split '47 wishbones up front with a reverse eyed spring and dropped Deuce front crossmember that RJ donated. My '42 juice brakes are NOS Ford Remans, and I'm going to drill the backing plates. Out back I'm going to run my '58 Ford 9" with 3.70 gears. No kickup or anything, just stock rails with full boxing plates. Modified Model A rear spring, custom mounts, '47 split wishboness tied to the trans X-member. On all four corners I'm running rebuilt Model A lever action shocks. I've got a Gemmer steering column, Bell Steering wheel, still unsure if it'll be cowl steering or not, depends on clearance after the motor is in. Motor is my 292 Y-Block, Isky Cam, Fenton 3x2 with Holley 94 Carbs, EDB ('57 Supercharged) cylinder heads with 8.7:1 compression. Should be good for about 300hp at the flywheel according to a local Y-Block builder and engine guru. I've got a Dragmaster aluminum bellhousing and B&M Hydro 4-spd GM transmission, but not sure if I'm going to run it or not, depends on availability of parts, for now it'll be the stock 3-spd manual trans. Wheels are '41 Ford 16" steelies, with 5.50 front & 7.50 rear NOS Firestone blackwall bias ply tires. The body is channelled 6" but I'm going to rework it to 4", Modified Model A Windshield posts, custom fit T roadster windshield frame, '64 Mustang rear 2-piece seat. Got to do some body patching, but it's all very simple. I've got it mocked up on the rails and about to weld in the Deuce front crossmember and make motor mounts. I should have the car set up as a roller by the end of the month at the rate I'm going.

Should look like an early dry lakes era car that was updated in the late 50's-early 60's with updated goodies for drag racing. Still unsure of body color, but this car is coming along and looking killer.

I have to work at 4am, then head to Corpus after work, so I don't have time to load pics, but I'll get them up over the weekend.

Damn I love hot rods.

A couple PS's...

JDeuce, have I got a deal for YOU! I'll hit you up soon with details...

Jon, I'm headed to CC tomorrow after work. I've decided to run the stock 3-spd manual transmission behind my Y block, but if you want the Edsel Mile-O-Matic (Ford-O-Matic auto trans) that was mated to that Y-block you picked up, I'll bring it, and it's yours. As far as I know, the car was driven for a few months until the guy wanted to put a 302 and T-5 in it. Call me as soon as you can, because I lost your number when my phone took a dirt nap last week. I'm leaving Friday after work, and can bring the trans to you over the weekend.

Ok I'm out.

Love,
J1
