Subject: Truck stuff since Sunday

Well, I got the flywheel bolted to the torque converter, the bell housing all buttoned up and the tranny connected to all of its miscellaneous goodies. The starter I had wouldn't work of course, since I had to go with the smaller flywheel, so I picked up one for the 87 Camaro. I got the starter wired up, the oil sending unit in and wired, the brake light switch wired up, heater hose bypassed (no heater), lower radiator hose on, oil pan tightened up, bought a used oil filter adapter from SRS and got an oil filter on, and probably some other shit that I'm forgetting. I got my new gauge cluster and speedo in the mail today that I got off ebay. I'll wire it when V and I get back from camping. Pretty much, I'm at the point where I can fire it up as soon as I wire the dash, get a driver's side exhaust manifold and top off the fluids. Oh, I also want to get an alternator with an internal regulator so I can avoid using the cluster fuck regulator that hangs on the fender. But I'm really close.

I need to pound the u-joints into the drive shaft and slip it back in and it should move on its own power once that other crap is done. Woohoo! Of course, once it does, I'll find out what the front end and brakes are like. I'm sure they'll need attention, but it's getting closer everyday. I think I've put about 30 hours into that truck int he last week. And that doesn't count the drinking time.

I also got Vanessa's power steering control valve off of the Fairlane and rebuilt it and put it back on. The car still wanders, but not as badly. I'm getting an upper ball joint tomorrow morning at 8am and putting that on before I go to work. That's the last chance I'll have before we leave Thursday morning for Pedernales State Park.

Other than that, I've been lazy.

BTW...my computer at home shot craps, so I won't be on line as often until I get it fixed. I only have internet access at work for the time being.
