Subject: Vanessa's F1

Vanessa's truck has been down for a while with some wiring issues. It croaked on the way to the Voodoo Dolls photo shoot and Stephen had to drag it home with Baby's Four Runner. So, Vanessa and I decided to rip out all the wiring and start over.

It had a new kit in it, but the goober that had it before us installed everything wrong. He had wires draped across the engine, instead of routing it around the firewall. He spliced into wires so many times, you could no longer tell what went where. He never even straightened out the looms before shoving it all through a hole in the firewall. Under the dash looked like electric spaghetti.

We spent a couple of hours disconnecting everything and removing the entire system. We laid it out on the driveway and separated all the wires into 'front', 'back' and 'cab' sections and zip tied the sections into tentacles. Then, we fed it all back to where it belonged.

So far, we got the headlights, tail lights, blinkers and headlight switch all fixed up. The loom going from the firewall to the front lights is all in one long heat shrink tube and tucked neatly into a groove on the fender well. I'll work on the gauges today and the ignition switch. I should be able to get that all tidied up under the dash before work. Then Sunday we can attack the engine wiring. That's what I've been doing. What about you guys?
