Thanks for the kind words, but trust me...they don't always hit on the mark. The way I do it is to make sure the belly of the brush is nice and full, then pull toward the end of the line I'm making while watching the back of the brush, not the tip. When I get about 1/4 inch from where I want to end the line, I lift the brush pretty much straight up and let the end of the hair sort of spring toward me. If the brush has enough paint, it'll flow to the tip and keep the line consistent. Like I said, though, it doesn't always work out that way. Quite often, I end up reloading the brush and palleting the paint to load the tip, then pull from the stopping point going the opposite direction to fill out the thin part of the line. I hope that made sense.

I also trim the very tip of the hairs off my brushes to get a more square end. This is VERY TRICKY to get right. If you trim too much, you'll ruin your brush. Just shape your brush with mineral oil into a nice dagger, then take super sharp scissors and snip about 1/8 inch off the very point. No more than that. That just cleans up the loose hairs so that they don't leave that little trail at the end of a line.

Most of that is just "feel" more than anything. Just mess with it a bit and you'll be surprised how quickly you get the knack.

Later
D
