Subject: GLADYS LIVES!!! (sort of)

Well, I got her all back together, changed the oil, tightened the tranny pan bolts (they were loose as hell, explaining the bright red garage floor), stole the battery back from Vanessa's truck and fired it up!

The good news is, she runs. The bad news is, she still has a knock that sounds frightening like a rod bearing. I was hoping against all odds that fixing that bad valve would get rid of that knock, but no such luck. I may have to pull the oil pan and check the bottom half, too. FUCK!!! I can't get a break. If there is a God, he hates me.

Also, I think I need to set the timing and check the carb. It hesitates really badly and tries to die when I'm sitting at a stop with it in gear.

Back to riding the bike in the rain until I can afford to fix the rest.
