Busy as hell....drove the TurboChicken approx. 1100 miles up to the panhandle, over to Ft. Worth, back to the panhandle, then back to Austin with very little problems.....except....right outside of Lampassas (Lampasass?)....I blew a cloud o' smoke out my rear (damn tex-mex!)...thought I blew something pretty important...and pretty early in the trip, I was on my way out o' town. Anyway, it cleared, but not without the watchful eyes of our TX DPS.....pulled over, cited for excessive smoke (and an expired license...just brought to my attention recently as I am old as fuck and rarely get carded.....also refused beer on the same occasion 'cause it was expired....WOW, carded and refused beer at 40.)...anyway....the car had never done that before and did not repeat it during the remainder of the trip (about an additional 1000 miles!). I'm a little pissed that the occifer didn't at least follow me for a bit and see if it cleared...he didn't even let me restart it or look under the hood while I was pulled over....so after the fact, I restarted the car, revved it a few times (no smoke), continued on my way. Now I have to plead and bitch to the Lampas-ass (I like this spelling) judge that it was a one-time occurrance and I do not own an old smoke belching car...Hey, I think I may have been singled out as a hot-rodder....WooHoo, I belong! I only have guesses as to the cause....oil return from the turbo not flowing properly, allowing oil to accumulate and get sucked throught the intake....didn't re-occur.....momenterily stuck injector?.....normal oil build-up in the turbo system finally purging?.......broken piston ring that miraculously fixed itself? Like with customer's cars....can't diagnose it if it doesn't re-occur....just guess, and guessing gets expensive. So, averaged 27MPG in the little sum-bitch....all in all...weekend was cool!
