*Rae shifted slightly, turning the question over and over in her mind, recalling the day her sister's mate proposed, and then remembering the year later, saying goodbye to her, and her childrens', mutilated bodies as they were buried. She remembered her sister's mate, running off after attacking his family, and she looked away, trying to concentrate, trying to think of an answer to his question. Though it was a simple yes, or no, it was tough for her. Her heart was yelling at her to say "YES, YES YOU LOVE HIM", but her brain was shouting back "He'll break it, they all do, just like your sister". She held back a tear, and looked him in the face, wanting to collapse on him, and let him hold her, comfort her. But she was too proud for that. She smiled, and licked his nose.*

"Yes, I would love to be your mate, Hafiz."

*She answered with a half grin.*
