Nice take, and well detailed which made it really fun to read. It was good to see that H&M took the time apart to have their own lives (especially Harm, even if he wasn't as happy as he wanted to be), and come to realizations about themselves (especially Mac, I really thought she was left hanging after Paraguay with the kind of destructive loneliness that makes one look for contact in all the wrong ways). Agree with SP above: I felt sad for the admiral in this. He screwed up, but we all do.

Name change is really interesting. I don't know how I feel about that, but then I can hardly put myself in Mac's shoes. I really liked that she got her eagles, and that Harm was so unselfishly happy for her. I think that's how it would go, given his respect for her.

Thanks for sharing! (How about an epilogue once the ficathon is done, to feed our starving souls with a future glimpse of the family H&M make?)
