Author:
TN would have both the USA & Teen titles at once
[Edit]
[> Subject: Why did I think that Oklahoma had won the Miss USA crown. I know that they've had a teen USA winner, but didn't someone win it back in the 60's or 70's? They've had alot of runner ups in hte past.
[> [> Subject: OK has not won Miss USA. Technically speaking both Arizona & Florida have HAD Miss USA's, but they didn't win outright..they were runners-up who took over the title of Mis USA.
[> Subject: I believe we've forgotten about Brandi Sherwood, Miss USA 1997. She might as well not have won outright, but she's still a Miss USA, just as others who have ascended the thrown when the winner was not able to complete her duties as Miss USA, including becoming Miss Universe.
[> Subject: Florida (Miss USA 1967), Arizona (Miss USA 1980) and Idaho (Miss USA 1997) were 1st runner-up to Miss USA. These 3 states have never won Miss USA outright. Miss Florida USA 1987, Cloe Cabrera should have won Miss USA 1987.
[> [> Subject: I very much agree with you on that one, KDK. I've also always been interested in the fact that Mississippi has done so well at Miss America, but at Miss USA.....hardly anything! And when a girl from Mississippi finally DID win the Miss USA crown, she was wearing a sash that said District of Columbia!
[> [> Subject: Georgia and Oklahoma both! I blame Georgia's failure on their consistently ugly dresses, and Oklahoma's on their consistently pretty birdbrains.
[> [> [> Subject: Witty, my friend! But I have to defend my "peeps." Miss OK USA 2009 Lauren Lunday is in Dental School. She must have gotten in on her own because I don't think Affirmative Action covers "birdbrains." That is, unless there is a new little box to check that HR needs to know about. We'll take the PRETTY, though. Love you anyway!
[> [> [> [> Subject: I'm sure Meemaw is primarily thinking of Lindsay Hill, Laci Scott, and Lindsay Jo Harrington, all three of whom were arguably the most beautiful girls competing during their years. I'm not sure how Laci missed the Top 5, but obviously the two Lindsays were in contention to win it all until they opened their mouths during interview.
[> [> [> [> [> Subject: Sadly, I don't think that Lindsay Jo Harrington's hair decision for Evening Wear helped her cause much either. It looked a mess!
[> [> [> [> [> Subject: Nope, no jesting here! (And Nichole Holmes, too!) Risking eternal disdain and overwhelming ridicule from Meemaw and OSF, I shall not budge in my loyalty to my big-haired, big-toothed, over-the-top pageant ladies!
[> [> [> Subject: Add Sophia Henderson to that list from 1985.....more stunning than Laura Herring ever dared to be and fell completely apart during interview....
[> [> [> [> Subject: Barker: Do you have a boyfriend? Sophia: Umm...hehehe. Barker: The hell? Sophia: Um. Associates. Barker: You have more than one boyfriend? Sophia: Hehehehehe! She is one of the 25 best faces in the history of Miss USA, but would have been better off just responding "No English." during interview.
[> [> [> [> Subject: Oh and I forgot my best Sophia-ism: "I was in the Ebony Fashion Fair and appeared in 176 cities my first year, and 183 cities my second year." Barker: So, over 400 cities in two years? Sophia: Yes! Um....LOL!!!! Call me, Sophia...if you can recognize the numbers!
[> [> [> [> Subject: How about we just put Maryland back on the list of "never having had a Miss USA" because it's true. And then we can stop demonizing Leona, even in jest.
