Scriptures. Are they really always correct? I guess they are always right, in the sense that they are written down in black and white. (Many of the vampires who wrote them are still alive and able verify their authenticity). I would say the scriptures are inspiring. They have the ability to lift up the reader to a new level of understanding about their self and their place in the world.

Now prophecy. Hummm. Always right? I�m not as confident there. So many variables are involved, the times they were written in, the amount of detail included, and most importantly, the free will exercised by the vampires about whom they are written. The fact that there were previous Mimic�s (those that apparently matched �some� of the prophecies) and yet they didn�t bring about the Vampire Dawn (also part of the prophecy) is a question toward the accuracy of the prophecy or our intereptation and understanding of the scriptures. They were Mimics, Yes, but they were not THE Mimic of the prophecies.

Assuming the accuracy of the prophecies regarding the Mimic, at what point is a particular Mimic, THE MIMIC of scripture?

And would knowledge of the scriptures by the Mimic help him in his transformation into becoming THE MIMIC. I don�t think Justin is there yet. He hasn�t even come to terms with his own past, and overcome his demons, to even consider accepting the mantel of MIMIC. It�s like a prince of a King awaiting his future accendcy to the throne. He is the current heir apparent but does not yet have the power of the throne. Like the night on Navy Pier where the vampires in the area suddenly found themselves in the presence of the Mimic, was it something in Justin that screamed out Mimic (I believe so) but what makes Justin into THE MIMIC, the fact that he believes he is the Mimic or the anointing of him as Mimic by the believing vampires, or a combination of both�oooh my head aches thinking on that one.

Now a side note, my own hangup with the Vampire Scriptures regarding the sire to the Mimic.

"That's...simply how the legend was told. No Mimic has ever outlived his sire. None. They always end up passing away, and the Mimic is forced to travel the path alone. It's a an essential part of the ordeal that each Mimic must go through in order to make the changes that need to be made..." Stew speaking again to Justin

I haven�t been able yet to accept �the truth� of this particular scripture. Does it have to be this way, only this way. Unless Taryn dies, Justin won�t become THE MIMIC to bring the Vampire Dawn? Does Justin �have� to follow the path the scriptures have laid out to him?

"What is 'prophecy', other than a series of educated guesses made on a possible chain reaction of events? Hmm?"�"Your destiny is determined by your ability and willingness to break that chain."

OK here is the crux of what I am wondering��willingness to break that chain�. What chain? The chain of prophecies (educated gusseses) regarding the Mimic, or specifically this part of the prophecy, the death of the sire. Can Justin still become THE MIMIC and keep Taryn alive? Maybe I�m reading too much into Zero�s final words with Justin but�maybe not.

Well that�s my thoughts on the vampire scriptures at the moment.
