In the same way if your trapped in the snowy wilderness and forced to eat people, I think being in that situation causes something to "click" inside our brains that causes up to forego millions of years of evolution and brings us back to instinct over intellect.

Basically, if I were in a situation where I was forced to "feed", I would. I don't think the human brain could force us out of it.
