The "Long Dark Foundation" will be mentioned a little later on in the story, and will have an involvement of two separate spin off stories later. But the first time it's mentioned in "GFD" is while everyone is in the IceZone. I believe they're passing out flyers at the time.

Basically, they help vampires find one another, and some humans who have lost friends and family to the darkness. Ahem...say...if a certain angry someone wanted to narrow down his search to find 'Taryn', for example.
