Just to show that the entire film industry isn't as stuck up as people think there is one shining example. Gus Van Sant is an American Director, Writer and Producer who has such title's under his belt as Good Will Hunting and the remake of Psycho (okay not such a good example, lol) made a film in 2003 called Elephant which is loosely based on the events of the Columbine High School shootings.

Apart from being a beautiful film with some of the most interesting cinematography I've ever seen, it has one stand out scene as a case in point where the two 16 year old boys who commit the shootings strip naked and make out with each other in a shower. I mean it's not full frontal nudity but it's quite obvious they are naked.

Now you may think that this may be quite a fringe film, but no, Elephant was awarded the Palme D'Or award at Cannes Film Festival, possibly one of the most prestigious awards in the film industry. So I think really, with the right audiences, the right director and the correct handling of the subject matter, nothing about GFD needs to be changed for it to be a successful film.

P.S. A note about budget, another one of Van Sant's films, Gerry is basically consists of nothing but Casey Affleck and Matt Damon walking round in the desert for 103 minutes, had a budget of $3.5 million. So unless we find a multi-millionaire GFD fan prepared to finance a film version then approaching studios would be the only other option.
