Subject: Thoughts on Faith
Trust Anders to make a bad situation worse. On a related note, maybe Kara could have suggested the perfectly sensible Raptor plan, oh I don't know before Gaeta got shot? Just a thought.
Oh and I've never liked Athena as much as I did when she had Kara in that chokehold. ;) Kara's never been in my top 5 of favorite characters, but I do generally tend to like her, this season though? Not so much, even though the crazy was reeled in, I think they lost me with the suggestion of the Raptor plan after the throw down.
Speaking of not liking people, Barolay, so, she was the medic yet she left a man with a gunshot wound to follow Kick ass Starbuck? And apparentlu tortuted a non combative Six to death? Yeah, not shedding any tears over her demise. It also re-inforced my disgust with the methods of the New Caprican resitance.
I enjoyed the insight we got into the sixes and the eights (inlcuding Athena) this episode.
I thought the stuff with Roslin was very powerful and Mary McDonell looked beautiful this episode. I don't think her dream is proof of any afterlife, but I can see why she'd choose to believe that and think it's perfectly understandable that she does. Pity they didn't have Billy as one of the people waiting for her though.
I also found Emily's, I guess existence is the word, very powerful. We never really get to see civillians and it highlighted how horrific their lives must be. Many of them were probably on business trips, or visiting someone, or whatever and were travelling alone, suddenly their whole life is gone and they're left to rot in tin cans in space.

sorry said words are riddled with typo's :) -- Esmerelda, 00:37:59 05/11/08 Sun [1]
Another thought, at this point, I'm hoping they make Lee the final cylon just to give Olmos and Bamber something to do. That's two eps without Bamber, Olmos was just a glorified cameo after being absent this week, and this is the second episode we've been missing Callis (even if his voice was heard).
Have they always been this bad at giving all the regulars something to do?

It's been easier in previous seasons... -- anyasbuttmonkey, 16:40:50 05/12/08 Mon [1]
Season 1, all bar Roslin were onboard Galactica, but she was heavily involved in most storylines at the time.
Season 2, all bar Roslin and Baltar (and Six, by association) were onboard Galactica, but again they had their own shit to deal with (I was totally about to blank out the swear when I realised, hang on, this is *my* board, I can say what the frak I want!).
Season 3, all bar Roslin and Baltar (and Six, again) were onboard Galactica, but again those others had their own storylines going on too.
Now we've got Adama, Baltar and Caprica on Galactica (in three separate storylines), Lee and Roslin on Colonial One (I assume), and Kara and Sharon on the Demetrius. It must be hard to weave everything in each week without disservicing one or another. To be honest, as much as I miss them sometimes, I'm happy for them to skip a week without Olmos or Callis if it means they get some juicy stuff down the line (at the expense of Kara and/or Sharon).
Don't worry, though, pet, the promos make it look like the fleet's back together next week. And we might even get some Cottle, thanks to Anders and his incredibly jerk-ass move of shooting Gaeta.

Re: Thoughts on Faith -- rmartin, 00:15:53 05/12/08 Mon [1]
I watched it a second time for the first time on the scifi channel online. Very cool. No logging in or nothing. Click a button and start. No commercials either. That was surprising.
First let me say, and I know this isn't popular, but please, Madame President, just die already. I'm sick of her sickness. Interesting when Baltar quotes Shakespeare. What's that all about?
Very cool special effects when the basestar jumps on top of the sewage barge near the end.
Sixes kissing! Sweet! It's easy to forget they are the same person. What's up with Athena not touching her dying clone? What's his name, Anders, has to step up. Of course, he so wanted to touch something on that ship. I was sure he was gonna put his hand in the goo. What's this; Palmolive dishwashing detergent? Yes, and you're soaking in it.
What else, let's see, hate Madame President, check. Oh, what's with hours and minutes as a countdown? What happened to yarns and centons as measurments of time. And one other nit pick, someone said God damn, what's up with that? Shouldn't the phrase be something like, the gods be damned?
And one last thing for you of the non-US; Barbara Bush is not dead!

It's just a fracking flesh wound, maybe a little bone broken, but suck it up Gaeta. Man up dude.

OK I'm no MD but... -- sparkle, 01:24:29 05/12/08 Mon [1]
Depending on where the would happend, and the fact that the medic went to the other ship, he could be in really bad shape. This is not the ship nor the staff to get a wound. As far as Madame President, I have to think there is something in store for her, otherwise, just let her go. I think the actress is amazing but I tend to agree that I'm tired of the cancer story. The Anders thing really bugged me. Did no one else notice that he was the one that "held" the eight? Maybe it's a soldier move but I just felt weird about it. The kissing thing was awesome in that it wasn't until the moment they kissed that I went, " Damnit that the same actress and I totally get it and the FX are amazing." When she said she was glad it was her I didn't get it until the trigger was pulled. Amazing.

Brilliant episode -- Chani *content*, 22:11:15 05/13/08 Tue [1]
I agree with you, Roslin should have seen Billy in her dream! I was sad that she kinda forgot to cast him in her vision of the afterlife (a vision that looked much more Roman than Greek btw).
The Emily/Roslin scene was a nice parallel to the Kara/Hybrid one.
Am I the only one who thinks that Baltar's sermon on the radio was also an elegant and rather subtle echo/parallel to the hybrid's monotonous and obscure speech?
Of course the idea of connection between females also appeared through the kissing Sixes.
Athena was the only one who rejected physical connection with her sisters. She jerked when the Eight touched her shoulder and she couldn't reach the dying Eight's hand eventually.
But I LOVED Athena so much in this episode ! And the Helo/Sharon kiss, it was so sweet and made me so happy.
Oddly enough I liked Sam for everything he did, shooting Gaeta, threatening the Six and eventually helping the dying Eight...
And poor Helo who wanted to help his friend Felix but didn't want to leave his wife behind and lose her. Impossible choices! Beautiful conflicted people.
I even liked the Adama/Roslin scene, especially with Patriarch Adama telling her he missed all his kids, Kara, Lee, Helo, Athena and Gaeta !
And Leoben is hot.

Most of Milan has slipped my mind, unless I think about it really hard... the only bit that's still a full-frontal memory would be Seema's rather unattractive incident in the bathroom post-Friday night cocktails ;)

It was a short getaway -- Chani, 09:49:28 05/16/08 Fri [1]
I don't think I saw it but I wasn't much into the inside of the duomo. I actually spent a lot of time on the roof!
I also went to Parma which is a lovely town.

It was an elaborate sun dial which shone on the appropriate sign of the Zodiac each month, it was very cool.
We were also on the roof, awesome views!
