New teacher's role

Teachers are traditionally viewed and nominated as the major authorithy is the classroom. This vision must be changed in order to increase and quality of his teaching method. He is the person who lead, control, evaluate students and even more, he is the only one who detain a certain knowledge and is capable to teach it. This concept of teacher is very common in language classrooms where most of the teachers persuade communication in class as they want it to be. However this teacher figure as leader damages student learning process because they do not feel comfortable to make questions and interact with their teacher. As a result teachers do not know their students enough to know their real necessities. To change this situation teachers must rethink their roles and find new alternatives to diversify their methods.

Creating a new atmosphere and opening to new possibilities which students are the focus in class, it wil optmize teachers work and the result wanted. Teachers must know that their work need to be based on the quality of learning. This quality is provided by recorgnizing his real role as facilitator and helper for students. As Patricia Craton says, a facilitator responds to the needs of the learner, provides support and encoragment. When students are guided and supported, they create new perspectives by challeging their assumptions and beliefs to learn. In this way, students get more responsable by their acts which will improve the learning process and both students and teachers feel succesful.

Another important fact that improves teacher’s work is when he constructs a relationship with his students and encourage them to construct among themselves. It creates na enviroment of teamwork and group work where learners are more engaged and have more trust, openess, personal disclosure and closeness. All of these attributs are essencial to students identify themselves, their needs and shape their knowledge and work.

It will be always a challange for teachers reinvent their way of teach but this reinvention is what makes each class significative because he will focus on leaners needs. Working in this way, students recognize that their teacher know them as na indivdual who makes part of one team that needs intructions. According to Gibson, Teachers have got to make students toe the line all the time., this gives a deeper meaning to knowledge. It hás gone the time when teacheres see students as someone who wil come in, sit down and get on with his job.
