Essay written by Daniela Gonçalves edited by Fernanda Gabriela

Teaching grammar to children

When we are learning a second language, one of the most important skills to be learned is grammar. However, teaching grammar is not a very easy task. According to Patricia Byrd, “Grammar is central to the teaching and learning of languages. It is also one of the more difficult aspects of language to teach well” (Modules for the Professional Preparation of Teaching Assistants in Foreign Languages). Depending on whom we are teaching to, the process can be even harder. For example, the way of WVF teach WVF a child is not the same of teach WVF an adult. P Each one requires different methods. However, teaching grammar to children can be more pleasant than teaching grammar to adults.

“In a sense, teachers of young learners have a considerable advantage over teachers of adults,” said Kenna Bourke (Oxford University Press, 2007). For instance, Wo people younger Wo are in a receptive age where everything different interests them. Generally, they learn anything easier and they hardly ever think that something can be impossible to learn. Most V times they are more motivated and this affects the teachers because when students show WVF interested WVF in the class, it makes the teachers much more motivated, too.
There are some activities that should be done to teach grammar to children. Teachers can create characters or use a toy, a puppet or even a doll to teach some points of grammar; they can draw on the board or use it to playing hangman, to do crosswords or to play any other game; they can tell stories, changing the voice to make different characters and they can, after, ask the children to act out the story; they can work with a lot of songs, chants, rhymes and poems and do many other things that enrich a lot a class.
In conclusion, it is possible to say that the method used to teach children is funnier, which contributes to a profitable development of the class, and due to the fact that most of them are always motivated to learn new things, teaching grammar to children become better than teaching grammar to adults.

->Your essay is very well written, however your Thesis Statement is not that clear to me, maybe you should have used a complex sentence involving the two last sentences. The others paragraphs are good but you should have used more transition signals. Besides, the conclusion is a bit different from the introduction, adding some new information I think you should avoid it
