Date Posted: 17:17:55 09/10/10 Fri According to the chapter 12 (the argumentative essay) one way to organize the argumentative essay is: Paragraph 3 – Reason 1- You will probably have one reason per paragraph. Two to four reasons are typically for an argumentative essay. Paragraph 4 - Reason 2 Paragraph 5 - Reason 3 Paragraph 6 – Refute your opponent’s most important reason Paragraph 7 – Conclusion – summarize, demand action, suggest a solution or predict an outcome. I suggest (as Prof Ricardo taught us) to write topic sentences for each paragraph first. After, we should develop the ideas related to the TOPIC SENTENCE. So, I got some. My suggestion for the paragraphs is: Paragraph 3 - Reason 1: Topic sentence: Academic English is like a third language for English language learners. Paragraph 4 - Reason 2 Topic sentence: students need to be taught expressive as well as receptive language. Paragraph 5 - Reason 3: Topic sentence: English Academic Language and English Conversational Language have different basic lexicon origin. Paragraph 6 - Reason 4: Academic Language is reliably to be found largely in text. Paragraph 7 - Reason 5: Topic sentence: The purpose for academic language Conclusion. My idea is to develop 2 of them and a conclusion. What do you think? [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
