The authors argument that is not necessary to write and speak perfectly the structure, but to show what they know. Paragraph 5 – Reason 3 Topic sentence: English Academic Language and English Conversational Language have different basic lexicon origin. Rhoda Coleman and Claude Goldenberg (2010) define conversational language as an informal and social interaction and generaly easily learned and academic language used in a more formal teaching/learning situation and more challenging to learn, including the vocabulary, syntax and text structures.. The authors emphasize that these languages are not completely distinct from each other. The everyday language can help students learn academic language if they are familiar with a task and adopt it to an appropriate language to transfer it to school-based tasks. However, to understand the meaning of a content specific or technical vocabulary is necessary to have the academic language. The student should be able to express themselves orally and writing using academic language, they need to construct the hole structured sentence.
