Here's another "service" if you'd have the nerve to call it that. Besides buying a fancy new speedboat the Quadra RCMP have been coming over to Cortes more and more frequently to harass locals. Have they been protecting us ? Not really...just extracting money for no seatbelts and random roadside checks. It stinks of a police state. They're never around when you need them and virtually all the serious crimes that have occurred on Cortes (which there are few) have been solved and dealth with by locals. There is a small minority who complain to police about this and that...mainly noise and pot plants and as usual, the squeaky wheel gets the grease...and it's pig grease ! It's more than insulting to have our precious and delicate 'Cortes Lifestyle' ruined by the selfish interests of a few. I see that Quadra is also fed up with the RCMP as well since they've got a petition going. Compared to most jurisdictions, Cortes is virtually crime-free unless you count growing a few pot plants a serious crime. That's what we get when RCMP officers are moved to places like Quadra from inner-city Saskatoon or St. Johns. No sensitivity...that's what you get !!!!!
