THE EXPOSURE OF THE UGLY DEEDS OF BRITISH POLICE HAS PUNCHED THE BRITISH POLICE THAT IS REFLECTED IN THEIR SCREAMING WAILING SIRENS AND USING THEIR INSIDER INFORMERS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO INFILTRATE INTO INTERNET AND HONK CAR HORNS AND TALK LOUDLY IN NEIHGBORHOOD HACKING INTERNET WHEN THEIR UGLY DEEDS ARE BEING EXPOSED:

BEWARE OF RACIST COWARD BRITISH POLICE USING WALL SEE THROUGH TECHNOLOGIES AND AUDIO LISTENING IN DEVICES IN CONNIVANCE WITH NEIGHBOURS TO DEHUMANIZINGLY HARASS ASIANS IN THEIR HOMES WAILING SIRENS FROM OUTSIDE EACH TIME ASIANS MAKE ANY BODY MOVEMENTS IN THEIR OWN AND RENTED HOMES, EVEN WHEN TOSSING IN SLEEP AND GOING TO BATHROOM,

CAN VOLUNTEERS PASS THIS INFORMATION TO OTHERS?

RACIAL HARASSMENT IS SERIOUS AND CAUSES ANGER, FEAR, DEPRESSION, CONFUSION, HELPLESSNESS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ILLNESSES AFFECTING RELATIONSHIPS OF PEOPLE AT HOME AND WORK. RACISM MEANS DISRUPTION OF FREEDOM. ANTI-CHRIST RACISTS AND THE RACIST POLICE BEHAVING RACISTLY COMMIT INFORMATION AND PRIVACY THEFT, BEHAVING AS CRIMINALS.

UK POLICE HARASSMENT OF PEOPLE IS SERIOUS DISRUPTION OF FREEDOM AND CAUSES ANGER, FEAR, DEPRESSION, CONFUSION, HELPLESSNESS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ILLNESSES AFFECTING RELATIONSHIPS OF PEOPLE AT HOME AND WORK. ANTI-CHRIST POLICE THEMSELVES COMMIT INFORMATION AND PRIVACY THEFT, BEHAVING AS CRIMINALS. RACIST WHITE POLICE AND THEIR COLORED GUTLESS INSIDERS-INFORMERS EMPOWER THEM TO ABUSE THEIR POWER AND HARASS PEOPLE.

BEWARE OF UGLY STINKING LOW CLASS DISHONEST RACIST ANTI-CHRIST BRITISH POLICE - PUBLIC SERVANTs IN UNIFORMS SURVIVING ON PULIC TAX PAYERS MONEY, BEHAVING AS RACIST WHITE SCUM-BAGS AND THE UGLY STINKING LOW CLASS RACIST WHITE DISHONEST ANTI-CHRIST BRITISH NEIGHBORS BOTH COMMITTING THE SERIOUS CRIME OF PRIVACY THROUGH ILLEGAL USE OF AUDIO AND WALL-SEE-THROUGH DEVICES IN OTHERS HOMES AND HACKING OF ONLINE INTERNET AND EMAIL AND THEFT OF OFFLINE COMPUTER HARD-DRIVES.

THE BRITISH POLICE CANNOT BEAR TO BE WATCHED AND THEIR UGLY ANTI-CHRIST DEEDS EXPOSED. THEY FORGET DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE OHTERS DO UNTO YOU. WATCH THE BRITISH POLICE:

DISHONEST RACIST ANTI-CHRIST BRITISH POLICE IN UNIFORMS PERPETUATE RACISM IN CONNIVANCE WITH RACIST ANTI-CHRIST WHITE DISHONEST BRITISH NEIGHBORS TO ILLEGALLY AND UNWARRANTEDLY USE WALL SEE THROUGH TECHNOLOGY, AUDIO LISTENING IN DEVICES, EMR VAN ECK PHREAKING EQUIPMENT, AND INTERNET, EMAIL, AND LANDLINE AND CELLPHONE TELEPHONE HACKING AGAINST ASIANS IN THEIR HOMES THROUGH WAILING SIRENS FROM OUTSIDE FOR EVERY BODY MOVEMENT OF ASIANS IN THEIR HOMES. INTERNET AND COMPUTER HACKING AND INFILTRATING INTO OTHERS PRIVACY IS A SERIOUS CRIME. THEY WILL WAIL SIRENS AND HAVE THEIR INSIDERS IN CARS CREATE SOUND DISTURBANCE OF ACCELERATING AND HONKING AND NEIGHBORS BANGING DOORS AND THROWING THINGS EACH TIME THE EXPOSERS OF THEIR UGLY DEEDS MAKE LIVING MOVEMENTS AT HOME EVEN AT NIGHT AND DAY, EVEN DURING TOSSING AND TURNING IN BED, AND EVEN IN TOILET. THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THE ANTI-CHRIST DISHONEST RACIST BRITISH POLICE IS TO DISHONESTLY MAINTAIN LAW AND ORDER THROUGH ENSURING THAT THE RACIST WHITE DISHONEST BRITISH SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DEHUMANIZINGLY DISTURB, INTIMIDATE, AND HARASS ASIAN MEN AND WOMEN IN THEIR HOMES AND ON STREETS, SHOPS, AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT THROUGH THE ILLEGAL USE OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES WITH POLICE CONNIVANCE AND TO INTIMIDATE, HARASS, DISTURB, AND PROVOCATE ASIANS WHO REFUSE TO TOLERATE THIS ILLEGAL NONSENSE OF DISHONEST RACIST ANTI-CHRIST BRITISH POLICE IN CONNIVANCE WITH DISHONEST RACIST ANTI-CHRIST BRITISH NEIGHBORS REFLECTING THEIR VAMPIRE CULTURE DEVOID OF INTEGRITY. THEY FORGET THAT 'HE WHO LIVES BY THE SWORD DIES BY THE SWORD' - 'THOSE WHO PERPETUATE VAMPIRE CULTURE WILL DIE BY THE VAMPIRE CULTURE'.

ABUSING AND DISRESPECTING PRIVACY IS A HEINOUS CRIME.
THE CONCEPT BEING PREACHED IS THAT 'WHY DOES ANYONE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT PRIVACY IF THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG'. THIS IS THE ANTI-CHRIST WAYS OF INFILTRATING. WHY DOES ANYONE NEED PRIVACY?: WHY DOES EVERYONE DRESS? WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE GO NAKED? LACK OF PRIVACY IS SAME AS WALKING EVERYWHERE NAKED AS A STREAKER! ARE THE BRITISH POLICE PREACHING THE CONCEPT OF EVERYONE BECOMING STREAKERS - NAKED UNCIVILIZED PEOPLE EVERYWHERE IN UK? JUST SO THE BRITISH POLICE CAN RETAIN THEIR ABUSE OF POWER THROUGH PROCLAIMING AN INFLATED, MANUFACTURED, FALSE, SELF-INITIATED SELFISH CONCEPTS OF SO-CALLED TERROR THREATS AND GAME PLAYING WAILING SIRENS AS EMPTY VESSELS MAKING MORE NOISE IN THEIR ILLEGAL ATTEMPT TO CREATE SOCIAL CONTROL THAT IS MAINLY A SOCIAL NUISANCE.

ABUSING PRIVACY IS HARMFUL TO MIND, BODY AND SOUL. THUS, THE BRITISH POLICE HAVE BECOME THE PERFECT ANTI-CHRIST. THEY WILL BE DEBARRED FROM THE KINGDOM OF GOD. EVADING TACTICS SUCH AS WHERE IS GOD, ETC, WILL NOT ABSOLVE THEM OF THEIR SINS AND THE BRITISH POLICE WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED FOR THEIR HEINOUS CRIMES OF ABUSING PRIVACY.

THE POLICE ARE ALSO USING HIDDEN LONG-DISTANCE CAMERAS FROM STRATEGIC POSITIONS TO TARGET THOSE WHO EXPOSE THEIR UGLY DEEDS. USING THESE CAMERAS, THEY BEAM THE VIDEO IMAGES TO THEIR POLICE CARS ROAMING WASTEFULLY WITH THEIR BACKS TO THE TARGETTED PEOPLE. AFTER THEIR AFOREMENTIONED UGLY DEEDS WERE EXPOSED, THEY PRETENDED NOT TO BE COWARDS THROUGH AVOIDING ROAMING WITH THEIR BACKS TO THE TARGETTED PEOPLE AND INSTEAD APPROACHING FROM FRONT. HOWEVER, THE FACT THAT THEY ARE COMMITTING THEIR HEINOUS CRIMES THROUGH EVIL MEANS AND INSIDER INFORMERS AMID NEIGHBORS REFLECTS THEIR COWARDICE AND STILL MAKES THEM ABSOLUTE LOW CLASS COWARDS COWARDS COWARDS COWARDS. THUS, THE BRITISH POLICE ARE THE ANTI-CHRIST COWARDS HARASSING THOSE WHO EXPOSE THE UGLY DEEDS OF POLICE HARASSMENT AND INVASION INTO PRIVACY OF PEOPLE AT HOME AND WORK, THROUGH VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE AUDIO AND VIDEO DEVICES, WALL SEE THROUGH TECHNOLOGIES, OFFLINE COMPUTER HACKING USING KEY LOGGERS AND ELECTRO MAGNETIC RADIATION (EMR) EQUIPMENT TO RETRIEVE IMAGES OF ANYTHING BEING TYPED ON PERSONAL COMPUTERS OFFLINE AT HOME AND WORK, AS WELL AS ONLINE COMPUTER HACKING THROUGH THE INTERNET THROUGH ILLEGAL ACCESS UNDER THE FALSE PRETEXT OF SURVEILLANCE AND PROTECTION AND SECURITY, THEREBY VIOLATING PEOPLES HUMAN RIGHTS AND PRIVACY, INVADING THEIR LIVES AND CREATING DISTURBANCE AND HARASSMENT THAT WILL WEIGH HEAVILY UPON THEM IN THE JUDGMENT OF THE ALMIGHTY LORD OF CREATION THAT LEAVES NO WRONGS GO UNPUNISHED EVER!

Subject: regarding Buddhism and Homosexuality, views by Dhammananda

Venerable Sir,

Before I seek your guidance on certain issues, I want to extend my heartiest congratulations to you for your over fifty years of service for Buddhism and most importantly, for the good of mankind.

Over the years, my fellow gay friends and I have wanted to know the Buddhist view of homosexuals. Sadly, today's society seems to consider us who engage in abnormal sexual pursuits as "trash." Particularly in Asian countries, this stereotype image has led to discrimination against homosexuals at the work place, etc.

I know that religions like Islam and Christianity condemn homosexuality but, being a practising Buddhist, I have always wondered what the Buddhist stand is and there are many questions for which I am seeking answers. You have produced many great publications that explain the rationale and wisdom of Buddhism on a variety of topics. I have read many of them and also attended some of your Dhamma talks. I have even searched some Buddhist websites about this but have found no answers. May I suggest, Venerable Sir, that you consider writing a book/booklet, ¡§Buddhism and Homosexuality¡¨ as I know there are other people like me out here with many questions, doubts and mixed feelings on the subject that could do with some sound Buddhist guidance. Further, such a booklet, I am confident, will help to correct society¡¦s attitude to the likes of me. For now, I have some specific questions below.

I end here with wishes of good health to you and may you, Venerable Sir, continue to guide us and show us the way to the Dhamma for many more years to come.

Sincerely, LLL

Question 18: What is the Buddhist attitude towards homosexuality?

Answer 18:

Dear LLL,

Thank you for your e-mail. I am happy that you have brought up this matter as I realise how important it is in the context of what is happening today in the world.

As human beings, we have bodies that crave for all kinds of pleasures (not only sex) - for food, pleasant smells, sounds, etc. If we deny ourselves these as being sinful, then we repress natural desires. Instead of repressing these natural desires, we must seek to understand how and why they arise and to realise that it is not in our best interests to pander to physical desires. The victim of maya (illusion) sees the body as real and craves to satisfy a longing for kama which covers all kinds of sensual pleasure.

As the being matures spiritually, maya is replaced with vidya (knowledge) and panna (wisdom). With spiritual maturity, the body is seen as an illusion and the being naturally grows out of craving. Here we see the spiritually advanced being renounces sex upon maturity, just as a child stops playing with toys as he or she grows up.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with sex. What is wrong is attachment and slavery to it, in believing that indulgence in sex can bring ultimate happiness. This is the problem with the exploitation of sex by the mass entertainment industry today - extending the myth that sex can bring lasting happiness.

The third of the Five Precepts we recite in daily Buddhist practice is: ¡§I undertake the training rule to refrain from sexual misconduct.¡¨ First, we note that there is no compulsion, no fear of punishment for infringement of any divine law but rather, when we recognise the danger of attachment to sex, we freely take the steps (training rule) to grow out of it, i.e. ¡§I undertake.¡¨ In short, homosexuality is no different from other forms of sexual activity. They all have inherent dangers of increasing tanha (craving) and must be avoided through the development of Samma Ditthi (Right Understanding) and by following the Majjhima Patipada (Middle Path).

Question 19: Is a Buddhist homosexual breaking the precept on "avoiding sexual misconduct?"

Answer 19:

What do we mean by "sexual misconduct?" Here we are referring specifically to behaviour that harms the person who performs the act, or the other party - not all sexual conduct. Sex is prohibited to those who choose to be celibate e.g. monks or nuns. These persons have voluntarily chosen to abstain from sex to better concentrate on their spiritual progress. In a sexual relationship, if the two parties are consenting adults, not under-aged, not ¡§attached¡¨ (legally or otherwise) to someone else, there is no harm done.

In Buddhism, we do not consider any action "sinful" in the sense that we transgress a divine commandment. We act wrongly because of avijja (ignorance) and therefore we commit an akusala kamma (unskillful/bad action) that delays or interferes with our spiritual progress. In our ignorance about the real nature of things (in this case, our body) we act in ways that are detrimental to us from a spiritual point of view. Understanding and wisdom will help us refrain from harmful actions, both mental and physical.

In this connection, Buddhism does not recognise that marriage is a divinely ordained institution that suddenly makes sex permissible. Sex is a human activity that has nothing to do with heaven and hell. You will notice that sexual restraint is one of the Five Precepts observed by practising Buddhists. Killing is far more serious because you can hurt another being more viciously. Sex is a craving, just like craving for food, liquor, drugs, wealth, power, etc. Attachment to any of these constitutes akusala kamma because, if we really understand the nature of our bodies and how craving works against us, we will not indulge in it. Buddhism discourages any of these forms of craving because they will tie us down more firmly to samsara. Also, indulgence in sex can lead to other evils like anger, jealousy, remorse and guilt.

Question 20: If two members of the same gender fall in love with each other, are they wrong?

Answer 20:

You may see from the foregoing that Buddhism does not see homosexuality as wrong and heterosexuality as right. Both are sexual activities using the body, both are strong expressions of lust which increase desire for life and therefore trap us longer in samsara. When a couple (whether a man and a woman, two men or two women) fall in love, it arises out of the same human limitation of not seeing the body as empty of any ultimate reality.

Question 21: Does Buddhism condemn homosexuals/homosexuality?

Answer 21:

Buddhism does not condemn homosexuals in the same way as it does not condemn any wrongdoing. We act through ignorance of the true nature of things. Therefore, we are only guilty of akusala kamma. We have no right to condemn others. Our duty is to help others see that they are acting out of ignorance, to show how real happiness can be gained. We have no right to condemn those who think or act differently from us, especially when we ourselves are slaves of sensual pleasure in other forms. We know that when we point one finger at others, the other three fingers are pointing at us.

In summary, homosexuality, like heterosexuality, arises from ignorance. All forms of sex increase lust, craving and attachment to the body. With wisdom, we learn to grow out of these attachments. We do not condemn homosexuality as wrong and sinful, but we do not condone it either, simply because it, like other forms of sex, delays our deliverance from samsara. With the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gem,

Yours in the Dhamma,

Ven. K. Sri Dhammananda

Rev. K. Sri Dhammananda,

I am a homosexual and I am suffering for it. I would be most grateful if you could advise me what should I do about it.

MMM

Question 22: As a homosexual, I have suffered much. What should I do?

Answer 22:

Dear MMM,

You say you 'suffer' from being a homosexual. But have you asked yourself why you suffer? Is it because homosexuality itself brings suffering like AIDS or cancer or do you suffer from feelings of guilt because your sexual choice does not conform with what society has deemed as deviant behaviour?

You suffer because of what others think of you. This distinction is important because you must realise you are allowing external forces to determine your happiness or unhappiness. The Buddhist view of all sexual behavior is contained in the Third Precept: ¡§I undertake the training rule to abstain from sexual misconduct.¡¨

Sexual activity is based on the use of the body to gain pleasure. Sex in itself is not sinful. What is wrong is the use of sex to exploit others - young children, the economically deprived and so on. It does not matter if this pleasure is obtained through heterosexual or homosexual behavior.

Buddhism sees little difference between a homosexual who exploits others and a heterosexual who does the same, although public opinion seems to make heroes of the latter, calling them macho. We need to ask ourselves whether the sexual excesses of some public figures like footballers and film stars actually deserve so much publicity.

Sex is sex, regardless of how we derive pleasure from it! What we have to guard against is attachment to the body and the pleasure derived from it - gluttony and alcoholism can be just as harmful. The more we indulge in sex the more we become attached to our gross bodies and the more we are doomed to suffer in samsara thinking that our bodies are real. Sensible self-restraint of the body in all matters leads to freedom and spiritual development, free from guilt.

We must train ourselves not be attracted to our bodies (although we must treat them with due respect) and to see our bodies, and those of others, as nothing more than receptacles for pus, urine, blood, saliva. We must not waste unnecessary time on useless guilt. Use your effort and energy to develop positive states of mind. As you see your body for what it really is, you will be able to transcend all your different desires. But you have to be patient and diligent. These things take time. With the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gem,

Yours in the Dhamma,

Ven. K. Sri Dhammananda

Discussion: Matthew 19:10-12

From our days in Sunday school, many of us are familiar with the Gospel story where Jesus healed the servant of a Roman centurion. This story is recorded in Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10. In Mat! thew, we are told that the centurion came to Jesus to plead for the healing of his servant. Jesus said he was willing to come to the centurion's house, but the centurion said there was no need for Jesus to do so, he believed that if Jesus simply spoke the word, his servant would be healed. Marveling at the man's faith, Jesus pronounced the servant healed. Luke tells a similar story.
Just another miracle story, right? Not on your life!
Note 18. K.J. Dover, Greek Homosexuality (Harvard University Press, Cambridge, 1978), page 16; Bernard Sergent, Homosexuality in Greek Myth (Beacon Press, Boston, 1986), page 10.
In the original language, the importance of this story for gay, lesbian, and bisexual Christians is much clearer. The Greek word used in Matthew's account to refer to the servant of the centurion is pais. In the language of the time, pais had three possible meanings depending upon the context in which it was used. It could mean 'son or boy' it could mean 'servant', or it could mean a particular type of servant 'one who was his master's male lover.' (See note 18.) Often these lovers were younger than their masters, even teenagers.
Note 19. Mercer Dictionary of the Bible (Mercer University Press, Macon, 1994), page 554.
To our modern minds, the idea of buying a teen lover seems repugnant. But we have to place this in the context of ancient cultural norms. In ancient times, commercial transactions were the predominant means of forming relationships. Under the law, the wife was viewed as the property of the husband, with a status just above that of slave. Moreover, in Jesus' day, a boy or girl was considered of marriageable age upon reaching his or her early teens. It was not uncommon for boys and girls to marry at age 14 or 15. (See note 19.) Nor was it uncommon for an older man to marry a young girl. Fortunately civilization has advanced, but these were the norms in the culture of Jesus' day.
In that culture, if you were a gay man who wanted a male 'spouse' you achieved this, like your heterosexual counterparts, through a commercial transaction, purchasing someone to serve that purpose. A servant purchased to serve this purpose was often called a pais.
The word boy in English offers a rough comparison. Like pais, the word boy can be used to refer to a male child. But in the slave South in the nineteenth century, boy was also often used to refer to male slaves. The term boy can also be used as a term of endearment. For example, Jeff's father often refers to his mother as 'his girl'. He doesn't mean that she is a child, but rather that she is his 'special one'. The term boy can be used in the same way, as in 'my boy' or 'my beau.' In ancient Greek, pais had a similar range of meanings.
Thus, when this term was used, the listener had to consider the context of the statement to determine which meaning was intended. Some modern Christians may be tempted to simply declare by fiat that the Gospels could not possibly have used the term pais in the sense of male lover, end of discussion. But that would be yielding to prejudice. We must let the word of God speak for itself, even if it leads us to an uncomfortable destination.
Is it possible the pais referred to in Matthew 8 and Luke 7 was the Roman centurion's male lover? Let's look at the biblical evidence.
Note 20. For an excellent and thorough discussion of the terms pais and entimos doulos in these two gospel accounts, see Donald Mader's article The Entimos Pais of Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10, (Source: Homosexuality and Religion and Philosophy, Harland Publishing, Inc., New York, 1998).
The Bible provides three key pieces of textual and circumstantial evidence. First, in the Luke passage, several additional Greek words are used to describe the one who is sick. Luke says this pais was the centurion's entimos doulos. The word doulos is a generic term for slave, and was never used in ancient Greek to describe a son/boy. Thus, Luke¡¦s account rules out the possibility the sick person was the centurion¡¦s son; his use of doulos makes clear this was a slave. However, Luke also takes care to indicate this was no ordinary slave. The word entimos means ¡¡±honored.¡¡L This was an ¡¡±honored slave¡¡L (entimos doulos) who was his master¡¦s pais. Taken together, the three Greek words preclude the possibility the sick person was either the centurion¡¦s son or an ordinary slave, leaving only one viable option ¡X he was his master¡¦s male lover. (See note 20.)
A second piece of evidence is found in verse 9 of Matthew¡¦s account. In the course of expressing his faith in Jesus¡¦ power to heal by simply speaking, the centurion says, ¡¡±When I tell my slave to do something, he does it.¡¡L By extension, the centurion concludes that Jesus is also able to issue a remote verbal command that must be carried out. When speaking here of his slaves, the centurion uses the word doulos. But when speaking of the one he is asking Jesus to heal, he uses only pais. In other words, when he is quoted in Matthew, the centurion uses pais only when referring to the sick person. He uses a different word, doulos, when speaking of his other slaves, as if to draw a distinction. (In Luke, it is others, not the centurion, who call the sick one an entimos doulos.) Again, the clear implication is that the sick man was no ordinary slave. And when pais was used to describe a servant who was not an ordinary slave, it meant only one thing ¡X a slave who was the master¡¦s male lover.
The third piece of evidence is circumstantial. In the Gospels, we have many examples of people seeking healing for themselves or for family members. But this story is the only example of someone seeking healing for a slave. The actions described are made even more remarkable by the fact that this was a proud Roman centurion (the conqueror/oppressor) who was humbling himself and pleading with a Jewish rabbi (the conquered/oppressed) to heal his slave. The extraordinary lengths to which this man went to seek healing for his slave is much more understandable, from a psychological perspective, if the slave was his beloved companion.
Thus, all the textual and circumstantial evidence in the Gospels points in one direction. For objective observers, the conclusion is inescapable: In this story Jesus healed a man¡¦s male lover. When understood this way, the story takes on a whole new dimension.
Imagine how it may have happened. While stationed in Palestine, the centurion¡¦s pais becomes ill ¡X experiencing some type of life-threatening paralysis. The centurion will stop at nothing to save him. Perh! aps a friend tells him of rumors of Jesus¡¦ healing powers. Perhaps this friend also tells him Jesus is unusually open to foreigners, teaching his followers that they should love their enemies, even Roman soldiers. So the centurion decides to take a chance. Jesus was his only hope.
As he made his way to Jesus, he probably worried about the possibility that Jesus, like other Jewish rabbis, would take a dim view of his homosexual relationship. Perhaps he even considered lying. He could simply use the word duolos. That would have been accurate, as far as it went. But the centurion probably figured if Jesus was powerful enough to heal his lover, he was also powerful enough to see through any half-truths.
So the centurion approaches Jesus and bows before him. ¡¡±Rabbi, my . . . ,¡¡L the word gets caught in his throat. This is it ¡X the moment of truth. Either Jesus will turn away in disgust, or something wonderful will happen. So, the centurion clears his throat and speaks again. ¡¡±Rabbi, my pais ¡X yes, my pais lies at home sick unto death.¡¡L Then he pauses and waits for a second that must have seemed like an eternity. The crowd of good, God-fearing people surrounding Jesus probably became tense. This was like a gay man asking a televangelist to heal his lover. What would Jesus do?
Without hesitation, Jesus says, ¡¡±Then I will come and heal him.¡¡L
It¡¦s that simple! Jesus didn¡¦t say, ¡¡±Are you kidding? I¡¦m not going to heal your pais so you can go on living in sin!¡¡L Nor did he say, ¡¡±Well, it shouldn¡¦t surprise you that your pais is sick; this is God¡¦s judgment on your relationship.¡¡L
Instead, Jesus¡¦ words are simple, clear, and liberating for all who have worried about what God thinks of gay relationships. ¡¡±I will come and heal him.¡¡L
At this point, the centurion says there is no need for Jesus to travel to his home. He has faith that Jesus¡¦ word is sufficient. Jesus then turns to the good people standing around him ¡X those who were already dumbfounded that he was willing to heal this man¡¦s male lover. To them, Jesus says in verse 10 of Matthew¡¦s account, ¡¡±I have not found faith this great anywhere in Israel.¡¡L In other words, Jesus holds up this gay centurion as an example of the type of faith others should aspire to.
Jesus didn¡¦t just tolerate this gay centurion. He said he was an example of faith ¡X someone we all should strive to be like.
Then, just so the good, God-fearing people wouldn¡¦t miss his point, Jesus speaks again in verse 11: ¡¡±I tell you, many will come from the east and the west [i.e., beyond the borders of Israel] to find a seat in the kingdom of heaven, while the heirs [i.e., those considered likely to inherit heaven] will be thrown into outer darkness.¡¡L By this statement Jesus affirmed that many others like this gay centurion ¡X those who come from beyond the assumed boundaries of God¡¦s grace ¡X are going to be admitted to the kingdom of heaven. And he also warned that many who think themselves the most likely to be admitted will be left out.
In this story, Jesus restores a gay relationship by a miracle of healing and then holds up a gay man as an example of faith for all to follow. So consider carefully: Who is Lord ¡X Jesus or cultural prejudice?

Subject: how can i cure my laziness?

Author:
bamb
[Edit]

Date Posted: 14:11:45 03/28/07 Wed

i have this problem which has been troubling me since i was a kid, and it is my tendency to get distracted and to let time drift away in idleness... some people may simply call it laziness!

i've asked a Bhikkhu about how to confront my laziness and was told that each morning when i wake up, i should spring out of bed totally as the mind has the least distraction at that time, and hence i could set the mind the right tone for the rest of the day.

i have attempted to follow his advice, alas, it's still quite a struggle to spring out of bed as he suggested... my old habitual tendency is to lie in and struggle for at least 15 min to half an hour before i could get up....

this issue may sound trivial to many people, but to me i know it has a deep implication to how life is lived and conducted...

anyone be so kind to give me some practical advice? meanwhile, i remember the Bhikkhu's advice every morning when i am getting myself out of bed.

btw, from my understand of what the Bhikkhu had said, instead of getting out of bed for some external reason (which can be motivational, eg if i am meeting someone i like or going to do something i enjoy) which is a kind of 愛取, he suggested to do it without external reason....

any suggestion?
