WALK A MILE
Scarred hearts
Can be sad or wise
Giving or hiding,
Yet many such a prize
Since they bravely reach out
When they recognize and see pain
Because of knowing how to walk a mile
In others shoes through pouring rain.
However sad hearts often are bitter
Not wanting to empathize but inflict
What they have been given threefold
Since they easily let their hearts convict.
Unlike the wise who forgive offenders
For they know not what they do
And may or may not ever know
Unless by a higher Power
Their souls become anew.
Of this we can only pray
With keeping our defenses high
To protect ourselves and ones we love
And for the others .. deeply sigh.
