area community theater holding auditions June 18 & 19

An area community theater group is holding auditions for any adult (or at least 17 years old) who wants to act, sing and/or dance in a hit musical about an ardent baseball fan�s vow to do anything to help his favorite team win the pennant, a premise bound to stir he hearts of Red Sox Nation.

The River�s Edge Players production of �Damn Yankees� offers a variety of great characters including a handsome baseball hitter, a devoted Washington Senators fan, his long suffering wife and her girlfriends, a scoop-seeking reporter, a baseball team owner, a luckless team manager, a sexy Lola who can belt out songs and a charismatic charmer/salesman. Remind you of anyone? Encourage your favorite ham or the talented performer in your life to try out for a part. Community theater is so fun!

Auditions are Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham Street, near Hudson Elks. (You may be called back Saturday morning.)

If you want to brush up on auditioning, why not take a workshop first? There�s a workshop on how to shine at try-outs on Wednesday, June 10th 7-9 p.m. at Hudson High School. Fee is $15. Want to practice dancing for musical theater? Take a two-hour workshop on that on Monday, June 15th starting at 7:00 p.m. at Hudson High School, also $15. Great exercise and you could be part of this or a future show!

So please mark your calendars for Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th at 7:30 p.m. for the �Damn Yankees� performances by talent in our own communities. For information, visit the Arts Alliance website at: www.upwitharts.org or call 978-562-1646 to reserve seats for the shows.
