Author: shine regardless!!
Subject: They are entirely in the smaller theater (seats 650) versus the bigger theater (seats 2500), but as far as stage size goes (see inside) it is not so clear. With smaller numbers, the boys logically can make the smaller theater work, and they will
In reply to: hope everythings fair for bigger guys 's message, "Oh dear it seems as though the boys have gotten the short end of the stick at worlds. Apparently they are on a smaller stage. Not sure how true this is but the UK/Irish board is discussing it." on 09:44:21 03/05/09 Thu

it is not clear. I am sure the smaller theater stage is somewhat smaller - the big theater stage is apparently HUGE. But they do not have the dimensions for the bigger one online. The smaller one is a 75 foot diameter rotating stage so the auditorium can be set up for a chamber concert (with seating in the back) or for a regular proscenium stage (like for theater). I anticipate they will use the proscenium version, as it is more like at other venues. It is not clear what the actual stage dimensions are, but if it is 75 feet across the back and even 25 feet deep, you still have more square footage (1875 sq ft) (slightly less, given the rounding of the stage at the front) than a 40 X 40 ft stage (1600 sq. ft.). Thus I would anticipate that the stage is plenty big, although not as huge as the one in the other theater. There are pluses and minuses to that, but the fact is the boys groups are smaller, with (generally) smaller crowds and they should fit comfortably in the smaller venue. It appears, with the numbers, that it wouldn't work otherwise (even as it is, the awards are set to be at 7pm and 9pm at night most nights). SO.....it is what it is. I look at it as a chance to see some truly phenomenal guys dancing and really be able to enjoy all the detail of their great dancing.

[> By comparison, the stage in the studio theater in Belfast (where they do sets) is about 20 ft. by 40 ft, so this stage is clearly larger than that. That studio also only seats up to 380, and this seats 650, so it is not as small as you think it is. -- The boys will be grand., 10:37:32 03/05/09 Thu [1]

[> [> Although everyone likes the "prestige" of the big hall, I think the smaller one is probably better suited for solo dancing overall, at least from what I can tell on comparisons -- IMHO, 10:40:49 03/05/09 Thu [1]
