In my opinion, you can see a forerunner of times to come when you interpret the results of the past Euro elections, including the "smaller" parties.

More and more people are willing to believe the far left and far right parties which promise to use a hard broom against the old dirt. The collateral damage done to democracy in the case of an election of those parties many people are already willing to take as the given minor evil.

This is not only valid for Britain, btw.
