I was watching "Deal or No Deal" last night. I think it's a terrible show, but my wife likes it, and it can be fun. The second contestant was a young, newly married woman, who was hoping to make enough money to buy health insurance for the next few years SO THAT THEY COULD AFFORD TO HAVE A BABY.
That is obscene!
How can the richest country in the world do that to its people. These aren't even poor people, they just aren't in a position where they can get group insurance, and they can't afford to pay for it on their own.
If a country doesn't care for its poor people, or have a decent health program for its citizens, lets its education system go to hell (except for the education of the rich) and is run by religious fundamentalists, it is a third-world country, no matter how much money it has.
