It is time for the Perseid Meteor Shower, which peaks on August 12th. If you set up a reclining chair in a spot where you can see lots of sky, get your feet pointing northeast, and your eyes looking upwards, and you should see a few Perseid meteors. The shower occasionally reaches numbers up to 400 per hour, but I have ussually seen no more than four or five an hour. The meteors tend to be orangeish, and moving at a medium speed. All the trails of the Perseid meteors point back to the constellation Perseus, which is in the northeast.
Get a good lager in your hand, and play some music in the background, and you may see some or many of the meteors. God's own fireworks, eh?
