Subject: No, no second guessing yourself, Cindy. Sometimes being extreme is precisely what you must do. It's your job to write from your heart, not to tell us what you think we want to hear, or to limit yourself to stuff you feel we can handle. Your world is different from ours, and I suppose it takes a lot of effort on your part to lift us into the fictional world you have created. But truth must be revealed, and so your art must be produced, even at the risk of being viewed as extreme. There's a lot of pulp on the shelves out there, all safe and contrived. Promise me that you'll never seek to be safe; let the extreme happen.
In reply to: celtgirl 's message, "Oh absolutely, Denise. I think I'd be much worse off without the writing. I really think of this as just part of the cyclical nature of creativity. For instance in the spring I'm more productive than any other time of year, my writing output will sometimes triple- I'm sure it's my creative part responding to the change in weather. I woke up in the middle of the night last night worried that I sounded a little extreme in this piece, when that wasn't truly my intention." on 10:03:06 01/17/10 Sun
