Subject: This is simply a truly devastating chapter. I actually have to psych myself up to read it as it's so well-written I feel as if I'm there. I adore Pat and Pamela and just find it so hard to read about such horrific physical and mental suffering. Great writing, Cindy. Not easy, but great things rarely are. Here's a question for Cindy: Are you able to detach somewhat as you write this type of scene or do you sit at the computer with tears running down your cheeks? Does it stay with you when you're done, colouring your mood for a while?
